Hereafter Movie Poster

Hereafter pulled from theaters in Japan

Monday, March 14th, 2011

According to Entertainment Weekly and the Associated Press, the film “Hereafter” has been pulled from theaters in Japan this week. The reasoning behind it is due to one very excruciating sequence. In the film, a horrific re-enactment of the 2004 tsunami that hit Indonesia takes place. The scene was considered too traumatic in light of the recent earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan Friday. Satoru Otani, an official for Warner Entertainment Japan Inc., stated the tsunami portion of the film were “not appropriate” for audiences in light of the destruction caused by the natural disaster. The film “Hereafter”, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Matt Damon, CĂ©cile De France, and…

Gilbert Gottfried fired over Japan tsunami tweets

Monday, March 14th, 2011

The last thing people need to make jokes about is the tsunami that hit Japan Friday. The amount of devastation and loss of life, not to mention the current nuclear meltdown situation, is nothing to make light of, which is why it’s really saddening to write the bit of news I’m reporting in this article. According to CinemaBlend and The Hollywood Reporter, comedian and voice of the Aflac Duck Gilbert Gottfried has been fired from the insurance company for a series of jokes he made on Twitter about the disaster. His tweets include, “Japan is really advanced. They don’t go to the beach. The beach comes to them,” “Japan called…

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

Next week’s episode of Bizarre Foods takes Andrew Zimmern and viewers to Japan, where they definitely take “bizarre” to a whole new level. Andrew drinks blood (no shocker here) and tries 5 year old sushi. I can’t imagine what the sushi must taste like, especially since Andrew says it’s one of the foulest things he’s ever eaten. Here is a sneak peek of the Japan episode of “Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern” only on the Travel Channel. While your at it, be sure to cruise over to the official Bizarre Foods website here! Stay tuned to Shockya.com for the latest “Bizarre Foods” television news and clips.
