Interview: Jason Momoa Talks Conan the Barbarian

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

Jason Momoa has the biceps, vocal timbre and alpha-male attitude to seemingly carve out a successful career as an action movie hero. But before his commercial audition with the public in “Conan the Barbarian,” his leading man debut, there comes something even more potentially nervousness-inducing – the requisite pre-release juggernaut of press commitments. Momoa recently made his debut on “The Tonight Show,” chatting cars with host Jay Leno (he favors an old Cadillac) and suffering the characteristic new-guest embarrassment of having an old clip from early in his career (in this case, from “Baywatch”) pulled out and showcased. Amidst a packed itinerary that necessitated some rescheduling, he recently graced ShockYa with some…

Conan O’Brien Won’t Be Able to Bring Sketches If He Leaves NBC

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

With Conan O’Brien and Jay Leno receiving more hype now than when NBC switched their hosting duties last summer, as the network recently canceled Leno’s 10pm prime-time show and O’Brien is scheduled to film his last episode as “The Tonight Show” host on Friday, celebrities and fans alike are taking sides.  But O’Brien’s fans have one less reason to celebrate their favorite male red-headed comedian’s departure from the network that wronged him: NBC owns the characters recurring comedy sketches featured on both “The Tonight Show” and ‘Late Night With Conan O’Brien,” the Hollywood Reporter announced. That means if O’Brien accepts a job on another network, much like David Letterman did…

NBC announced during the TV Critics’ Association (TCA) Press Tour in Pasadena yesterday that the hour-long Jay Leno Show, which premiered during the 10 pm eastern time slot in mid-September as a lead-in to local news broadcasts, has been canceled. Though the show initially debuted to high numbers after Leno stepped down as The Tonight Show host in May after 17 years, it has seen a steep decline in ratings during recent months. Since The Tonight Show with Jay Leno consistently brought NBC higher numbers than CBS’ Late Night with David Letterman, NBC Universal…

Jay Leno to Move to Prime-time

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

According to several news stories, including those by credible industry sources such as Broadcasting & Cable and TV Week, NBC will announce today that Jay Leno will take over the 9 p.m. slot on the network every weeknight starting Fall 2009. Leno will remain the host of “The Tonight Show” until May 2009 when Conan O’Brien, who currently hosts “Late Night” in the time slot after Leno, will take over for the show. Both shows have a similar format, featuring sketch comedy and celebrity guests, which is said to make the transition smooth. According to Kansas City Star TV critic Aaron Barnhart, the move will be a wise one. He…
