Paramount Releases Official News On Star Trek Sequel

As written about in this ShockYa article, Paramount has released news about the official start of filming of “Star Trek 2.” Here’s the press release in its entirety: “LOS ANGELES, CA (January 13, 2012) – Paramount Pictures announced today that principal photography has commenced in Los Angeles, CA on the sequel to STAR TREK from director J.J. Abrams. The film will be released on May 17, 2013 in 3D. Principal Photography On Star Trek 2 Has Begun

It’s finally started! If you’re like me and you’ve been waiting impatiently for the start of “Star Trek 2,” you’re in luck, because the principal photography has started! According to Paramount’s press release posted on latino-review.com, the principal photography began last Thursday, true to J.J. Abrams’ word. The film will be released May 17, 2013 in 3D and will see the return of the original cast members to the reboot–Chris Pine, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, and Anton Yelchin. Star Trek 2 Will Shoot in 2D and Possibly IMAX

J.J. Abrams announced that he’ll be shooting the ‘Star Trek’ sequel in 2D and possibly IMAX, and will be converting the follow-up to his hit 2009 sci-fi film to 3D in post-production, Collider is reporting. The director said he’ll “do a good high-end conversion like the ‘Harry Potter’ movie. Luckily with our release date now we have the months needed to do it right, because if you rush it, it never looks good.” Abrams added he’s thinking about shooting in IMAX because “I would love to do it.
