Title: Cars 2 Reviewed by: JM Willis Directed by: Brad Lewis Starring: Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy and Michael Caine Running time: 106 minutes, Rated G, Available on standard DVD Lightning McQueen and his best bud Mader are back in the sequel to the Pixar blockbuster Cars. McQueen takes his friends from Radiator Springs with him to the World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car and try out a new earth friendly fuel called Allinol. Mader however gets mistaken for a spy, and unwittingly becomes involved in international espionage. Personally, I didn’t see the need to make a sequel to Cars, since I didn’t think the original…

Like all years of cinema, 2011 has seen its fair share of posters. However, a large portion of them are, let’s face it, lazy. The increased marketability of actors and actresses, as well as some misuses of Photoshop, have made what was once a grand medium into just bland advertisement. Just take a look at the regression of the “Harry Potter” posters. What once was a hand-drawn, composed piece is now just an actor or actress looking off-screen with a bluish-green light tinting them. Rocket science isn’t needed for that. However, 2011 has also seen some great posters that remind us what it is to look at an actual movie…

Title: Transformers: Dark of the Moon Directed By: Michael Bay Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson, Patrick Dempsey, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Alan Tudyk, Frances McDormand I love chocolate cake. When I eat too much chocolate cake, I feel sick and don’t love it much anymore. I like visually stimulating imagery in movies. When I see too much visually stimulating imagery, in 3D nonetheless, I feel sick and don’t love it much anymore. Hopefully Michael Bay doesn’t love chocolate cake as much as he loves tracking shots and dizzying robot battles or he’d have a morbidly obese problem on his hands. Transformers: Dark of the…

With the release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon fast approaching, the cast and filmmakers are out and about spreading the word. And it’s not like they even have to. Back in 2007 Transformers snagged a massive $709.7 million at the worldwide box office only to be trumped by Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and its enormous $836.3 million haul in 2009. Can Dark of the Moon raise the bar yet again? It’s tough to be sure, but I’ve got a feeling director Michael Bay will put up a good fight. We watched as Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) got caught up in the battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons…

Members of the main cast–including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Shia LeBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel, Patrick Dempsey and John Malkovich–and director Michael Bay were in attendance. Also released is pictures from the free Linkin Park concert held the same day. Linkin Park’s latest single,”Iridescent”, was featured as the title song for the film. The film is reportedly the last in the trilogy, at least, the last in the trilogy directed by Michael Bay. The film chronicles the final chapter of the saga involving Sam Witwhicky (LeBeouf) and the Autobots in their fight against the Decepticons. In the…

Title: Cars 2 Director: John Lasseter & Brad Lewis Starring the Voices of: Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer, Eddie Izzard, John Turturro, Joe Mantegna, Thomas Kretschmann The setting: -It’s late February 2012, wait, scratch that…it’s January 2012, and the Oscar nominees are being rattled off; some A-list celebrity is about to read the candidates for Best Animated Film, and wouldn’t you know it, a Pixar film is noticeably missing… That’s because “Cars 2″ sputtered at just about every turn. If you’re looking for what makes Pixar the perennial dominating product in this genre, this 113 minute flick is a very average sample size. And don’t…

Title: The Nutcracker in 3D Directed by: Andrey Konchalovskiy Starring: Elle Fanning (Astro Boy, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Nathan Lane (Hitman 2, Swing Vote), John Turturro (Transformers: Dark of the Moon) and Frances de la Tour Sometimes the most impressive places are only in people’s imaginations, but the obstacles they overcome in their dreams still significantly change their outlook on life. This is definitely the most important message put forth in Cinemarket Films’ new Christmas movie, ‘The Nutcracker in 3D.’ The new take on the classic fairytale not only expertly shows the struggle between good and evil through new characters and plot points, but also sticks to the…
