LAPD Want to Question Johnny Depp in Bodyguard Assault Case

Posted by Karen Benardello On December - 6 - 2011 0 Comment

The LAPD is looking to question Johnny Depp after his bodyguards allegedly assaulted a disabled woman on December 2, 2011, TMZ is reporting. Law enforcement officials are making attempts to interview ‘The Rum Diaries’ star and his bodyguards about the report. The woman who filed the report, 52-year-old Robyn Ecker, made the official complaint after the Iggy Pop concert at the Palladium in Los Angeles. She bought her husband $600 tickets to the show for his birthday, and Depp was seating right next to her, surrounded by bodyguards. Ecker stated she was minding her own business when she accidentally danced too close to the ‘Dark Shadows’ actor and his table.  [ Read More ]

Jack and Jill Movie Review

Posted by Joe Belcastro On November - 13 - 2011 0 Comment

Title: Jack and Jill Director: Dennis Dugan Starring: Adam Sanlder, Katie Holmes, Al Pacino, and just about every one of his friends and/or A-List stars making cameos Al Pacino saves the day, or in this case, 95 minutes of what 1991’s Double Impact would have been like if it wasn’t an action flick. Plus, how funny – or ironic – is it that this Adam Sandler cross-dressing comedy opens the same day as J. Edgar? Happy Madison…always thinking. Except in this comedy; which may be the most off-kilter movie in recent memory. One minute you’re SUPPOSED to be laughing and the very next you feel completely sorry for a character.  [ Read More ]

Red Band Trailer For 21 Jump Street Released

Posted by monique On November - 4 - 2011 0 Comment

After months of speculation and wondering, the red band trailer for “21 Jump Street” has finally been released! The trailer was put on the film’s official Facebookpage, and, having seen at least one episode of the original “21 Jump Street,” I think it’s fair to say that there’s a very big difference in tone from the show, which made Johnny Depp a household name. The film stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as doofus cops who look young enough to pass for high schoolers, so they’re enrolled in an revived undercover cop unit: “In the action-comedy 21 Jump Street, Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) are more than ready  [ Read More ]

Movie Review Round-Up: The Rum Diary

Posted by monique On October - 31 - 2011 0 Comment

I’m actually not sure what the expectations were for Johnny Depp’s “The Rum Diary,” but it seems to have hit the “middle-of-the-road” mark with both critics and audiences, according to Rotten Tomatoes. While audiences have given it the benefit of the doubt by giving it a 60%, the critics weren’t too happy with it, giving it a rotten 51%. Want to know why they gave it such a bad rating? Check out some of the critics’ reasoning below. “There’s a reason why ‘The Rum Diary’ didn’t find a publisher until a late-in-life Thompson resurgence, and it’s clearer still in this adaptation–there’s no real drama here.”–Stephen Whitty, Newark Star-Ledger “Essentially an  [ Read More ]

The Rum Diary Movie Review

Posted by Perri Nemiroff On October - 26 - 2011 0 Comment

Title: The Rum Diary Directed By: Bruce Robinson Starring: Johnny Depp, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Rispoli, Amber Heard, Richard Jenkins, Giovanni Ribisi Critically, Johnny Depp has been all over the map for the past few years, however, one thing remains consistent, the guy is dedicated. Give him an icon like J.M. Barrie, someone more eccentric like Jack Sparrow or even an animated character like Rango and Depp seizes the opportunity and gives the role everything he’s got. Then again, you can’t forget that acting is only one aspect of the moviemaking puzzle and while Depp stands tall yet again in The Rum Diary, he can’t keep the rest of the piece  [ Read More ]

New Site And Poster Out For The Rum Diary

Posted by monique On October - 15 - 2011 0 Comment

“The Rum Diary,” starring Johnny Depp, has a new poster out, as well as a new website. The poster, featured below the post, is the final poster that will be released for the movie and the official site, which can be found here, is not as trippy as you’d expect a website about a film about a Hunter S. Thompson novel to be. But it’s very slick and stylish with the right amount of edge, fitting for such a film. Also below the post is the film’s trailer. “Based on the debut novel by Hunter S. Thompson, “The Rum Diary” tells the increasingly unhinged story of itinerant journalist Paul Kemp  [ Read More ]

Last Wednesday, the organizers of the New York Film Festival announced there will be a special “work in progress” screening to take place on the following Monday, October 10th. They didn’t announce what the film would be but they teased it by saying it was a movie that would come out later this year and it was by a legendary master filmmaker. That’s it! Ever wonder how many projects go into development only to never see a green light? Well, there’s a lot, but that doesn’t stop studios from announcing potential projects. Not only do we have a Farmville movie in the works, but one about Steve Jobs and one about Dr. Seuss, too. Of the bunch, the latter two are the most likely to come to fruition while Farmville could be a ways away. Then again, even if a Farmville movie does happen, how much of the narrative could really be based on the game? Also in the development stage is the big screen version of the TV show Friday Night Lights. While  [ Read More ]
