Red Band Trailer For 21 Jump Street Released

Posted by monique On November - 4 - 2011 0 Comment

After months of speculation and wondering, the red band trailer for “21 Jump Street” has finally been released! The trailer was put on the film’s official Facebookpage, and, having seen at least one episode of the original “21 Jump Street,” I think it’s fair to say that there’s a very big difference in tone from the show, which made Johnny Depp a household name. The film stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as doofus cops who look young enough to pass for high schoolers, so they’re enrolled in an revived undercover cop unit: “In the action-comedy 21 Jump Street, Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) are more than ready  [ Read More ]

Glee's Matthew Morrison Rude To Moneyball's Jonah Hill?

Posted by Sarah Anne Luoma On September - 24 - 2011 0 Comment

Moneyball star Jonah Hill slammed Glee’s singing teacher Matthew Morrison, aka Mr. Schuester, this past Wednesday on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Hill and Morrison are apparently enemies and have been for a while according to the Superbad actor. After meeting at Fox’s upfront presentation this past May, where Morrison attended for Glee, while Hill showed up for his new series Allen Gregory, things between the two went awry. “This (publicity) woman is giving us these instructions… and no one is paying attention… and Zooey (Deschanel) starts talking to me. And I’m, like, whatever I don’t want to get in trouble or anything like that. And she keeps talking to  [ Read More ]

Moneyball Movie Review

Title: Moneyball Directed By: Bennett Miller Starring: Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright, Chris Pratt, Stephen Bishop, Nick Porrazzo, Kerris Dorsey, Reed Thompson It’s pretty obvious that the sports genre has a tendency to revel in formulaic inspirational storytelling. But, when you’ve got a true story with a happy ending, isn’t that effect almost inherent? According to Moneyball, no. Is that a good thing? It depends what you’re looking for. Brad Pitt is Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland A’s coming off a hot season. However, as Billy frequently says, nobody remembers you when you lose your last game of the season and in 2001,  [ Read More ]

Movie Review Round-Up: Moneyball

Posted by monique On September - 22 - 2011 0 Comment

Critics have already given the Brad Pitt film “Moneyball” a high rating of 92%. The film, which is about Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland A’s who reinvents the team with virtually no money, also stars Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Let’s see what the critics love about “Moneyball”: “The supersmart and rousing ‘Moneyball,’ which may be the best baseball movie since ‘Bull Durham,’ is…about talk, but in a cooly heady and original inside-the-front-office way.”–Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly “‘Moneyball’ is a thinking person’s baseball movie, and a baseball fan’s thinking movie…[A]s Beane, Brad Pitt gives perhaps his smartest, subtlest performance ever. I don’t know if director Bennett  [ Read More ]

Sure, it’s fun getting early peeks at upcoming productions, but it’s a different story if those first looks are coming from anywhere else, but the studio in charge. Hearing that John Travolta, Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme may be in The Expendables 2 from the Nu Boyana Studios CEO? Good. Seeing official images of Anne Hathaway, Henry Cavill and Rihanna in full costume for The Dark Knight Rises, Man of Steel and Battleship respectively? Awesome. A parody video by Miles Fisher starring the entire cast of Final Destination 5? Bloody fantastic! Amateur photos and video of folks hanging around the set of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises? Now  [ Read More ]

The Best and Worst Movies of 2011 So Far (Rudie's Take)

Posted by Rudie Obias On July - 8 - 2011 0 Comment

Some people will say 2011 isn’t a great year for movies. I would tend to disagree with that sentiment. It’s true the number of great films (so far) in 2011 are fewer than 2010 but the ones we do have in 2011 are pretty spectacular and worth watching and discussing. There are movies like Gore Verbinski’s “Rango” or Joe Wright’s “Hanna” are among the favorites of general audiences, just looking at the critical response and box office receipts, but there are also smaller movies that seem to have been forgotten like Cary Fukunaga’s adaptation of “Jane Eyre” and Tom McCarthy’s comic gem, “Win Win”. All of these titles are worthy  [ Read More ]

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that 21 Jump Street has wrapped up filming, according to Jonah Hill, one of the people instrumental behind the film. Hill, who co-wrote and is also starring in the film, has tweeted, “’21 Jump Street’ just officially wrapped. See you March 16, 2012.” If that wasn’t enough, he also tweeted a picture of himself and Channing Tatum celebrating on set, which can be seen below this post. Also, it appears that Johnny Depp was, indeed, lured back into the world of “21 Jump Street” and will be seen in some sort of a cameo; the exact role isn’t known. But in any case, it’s good to  [ Read More ]

Moneyball Movie Trailer Arrives!

Posted by Sarah Anne Luoma On June - 16 - 2011 0 Comment

The ‘Moneyball’ movie trailer has arrived!  Featuring Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill, the trailer looks pretty promising.  The 2 minute or so teaser kicks off with a silly feel to it.  Almost like your watching a little Danny Devito and Arnold back together again, but before you know it the first look turns serious, somewhere along the lines of Friday Night Lights. With Pitt in the role of  a down and out Oakland A’s Billy Beane, and Jonah Hill something of a savior, Moneyball has the potential to be a decent sports movie based on real events.  Definitely something I can get behind!  Moneyball is a film adapted from Blind  [ Read More ]
