Over a decade ago, Bryan Singer’s adaptation of the “X-Men” comic book franchise gave the modern superhero genre a kick in the pants, seeding action thrills with deeper ethical conflicts, and laying the groundwork for both the grander commercial success (think “Spider-Man”) and some of the more artistic-minded noodling of a wide variety of genre followers (see also: Ang Lee’s “Hulk”). We all go a little mad sometimes, right? Okay, maybe not in the Billy Loomis sense, but I’ve certainly had moments when I’ve let my thoughts get to me. Pressure in school, pressure at work and pressure at home all collide to create this whirlwind of emotion. So Dinner for Schmucks wasn’t that great and Twelve was downright awful, but that doesn’t mean 2010 will be a bummer for Zach Galifianakis and Emma Roberts. They’ve still got It’s Kind of a Funny Story on the way and based on the trailer, the film will be hilarious and pretty endearing, too. Showtime just released a brand new season 2 television promo trailer for the upcoming season of “United States of Tara” from creator Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body, Juno) and starring Toni Collette, John Corbett, Brie Larson and Keir Gilchrist. The new season premieres Monday, March 22nd at 10:30PM ET/PT. Series Synopsis: Another twisted comedy about the unexpected nature of American families, this single-camera Showtime offering examines a wife and mother of two teens who suffers from dissociative identity disorder, which means she suffers from multiple personalities. Coping with it all is never easy, but it’s always funny. Toni Collette has signed on to play the lead role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Keir Gilchrist has been cast as the lead in “It’s Kind of a Funny Story” from Focus Features and writer-directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Gilchrist joins Zach Galifianakis, Emma Roberts, Viola Davis, Jim Gaffigan, Zoe Kravitz, Aasif Mandavi, and Lauren Graham. “It’s Kind of a Funny Story” is a coming-of-age comedy-drama adaptation of Ned Vizzini’s 2006 novel about a 16-year old who checks himself into a mental health clinic to deal with stress. He ends up stuck in the adult ward after finding out that right before he got there, the youth ward closed. Shooting begins in New York in December 2010. Stay tuned…
