According to reports from Variety, a remake of the 1987 hit movie ‘Dirty Dancing’, previously starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, is on the way.  Per the reliable news outlet, director Kenny Ortega of ‘High School Musical’  fame has been tapped to produce the new age dance drama, with the help of Debra Martin Chase, whose credits include ‘ The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ and ‘The Cheetah Girls’. With the success of High School Musical 3: Senior Year its opening weekend, earning over $42 million, Paramount Pictures has announced it will fast-track it’s remake of Footloose in hope to acquire Zac Efron for its lead and HSM director, Kenny Ortega, on board as well. Efron is currently in negotiations for the film, which will bring him a $5,000,000+ paycheck.
