Marvel Entertainment has released a few updates on upcoming movie adaptations of their properties, including the highly-anticipated “Avengers” film. “Iron Man 2″ is already filming and still on-schedule for release May 7th, 2010, and release, and the Kenneth Branagh-directed “Thor” still hasn’t made any casting decisions, is in pre-production, and scheduled to being filming in the beginning of 2010. “Thor” is aiming for a May 20th, 2011 release. “The First Avenger: Captain America”, directed by Joe Johnston, is scheduled to start filming in the summer of 2010 and has a tentative July 22nd, 2011 release date. Justin Theroux recently sat down to talk with UGO, and dished on, besides the DVD release of “Tropic Thunder”, the progress happening with the “Iron Man” sequel. Marvel Leans Towards Runaways As Their Post-Avengers Project

Marvel Comics’ smash hit “Runaways” is apparently being eyed by Marvel Studios, the movie branch of the comic book publishers behind this summer’s smash hits “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk”. Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige said, when asked recently by MTV News “I love the idea. Brian brought to Marvel one of the best new concepts that we’ve had in quite some time, […] It’s very different than anything we’ve done before.” He expects to be looking at a finished script by early 2009.
