Jesse Martin Joins New ABC Show Hallelujah

Jesse L. Martin has joined the cast of ABC’s new pilot ‘Hallelujah,’ tvguide.com is reporting. The star, who first rose to fame after appearing in the Broadway production of ‘Rent’ and on nine seasons of ‘Law & Order,’ is the first actor to be cast in the project, which is being developed by ‘Desperate Housewives’ creator Marc Cherry. The show, which Cherry has described as “‘Glee’ for conservative Republicans,” is set in Hallelujah, Tennessee. Renowned New Zealand actor Temuera Morrison (“Once Were Warriors”, Jango Fett from the “Star Wars” prequel films) and New Zealand filmmaker/actor Taika Waititi have both joined the cast of Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Green Lantern.” Morrison has been cast as Abin Sur, the alien Green Lantern Corps member responsible for Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) joining the intergalactic courage-fueled police force. Waititi will play Hal Jordan’s close friend and confidante Tom “Pieface” Kalmaku. The two join Reynolds, Mark Strong, Peter Sarsaard, and Blake Lively in the live-action adaptation of the DC Comics character. Imageworks Tapped For Green Lantern FX

Warner Brothers have tapped Sony Pictures Imageworks to take the lead for the visual effects for “Green Lantern”. Karen Goulekas (“The Day After Tomorrow”), Kent Houston (“The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”). and Jim Berney (“I Am Legend”) from Imageworks will be overseeing the project, an adaptation of the DC comics character and title “Green Lantern”, an test pilot chosen to become a member of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic peacekeeping force powered by fearlessness. Peter Sarsgaard has been cast in Warner Brothers’ upcoming adaptation of DC Comics’ “Green Lantern” as the villainous Hector Hammond. Originally appearing in the pages of 1961′s “Green Lantern”, the character was created by John Broome and Gil Kane. Hammond was exposed to the radiating energies of a strange meteor, which gave him telepathic powers and also mutated his features, giving him an exaggeratedly-large head. Green Lantern Release Date Moved Back

Box Office Mojo is listing a new release date for Martin Campbell’s big-screen adaptation of “Green Lantern” for DC, moving it from December 17th 2010 to June 17th 2011. Whether or not this will affect plans to start shooting in Australia in September or if the move is to give Campbell more time for post-production and FX is unknown.
