New Poster And Trailer For Titanic In 3D Released

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

When “Titanic” was first released in the 1990s, it was a huge success– “Twilight” and “Harry Potter” levels of success. Most women were in love with Leonardo DiCaprio after this film and went to see the film three or even twelve times. And, similar to today, James Cameron was the veritable “king of the world.” Now, it would seem that Paramount is trying to bring that level of frenzied adoration back with the theatrical re-release of “Titanic” in 3D. Paramount has released the poster and new trailer for the re-release, both of which can be seen below the post. If you loved “Titanic” back in the day, I’m sure the…

Sacha Baron Cohen

Sacha Baron Cohen Might Join Django Unchained

Monday, November 14th, 2011

The casting list for Quentin Tarantino’s “Southern” “Django Unchained” has been one of the biggest developing stories in entertainment, mostly due to the against-the-grain casting, and it’s about to get even bigger and crazier now that there’s news that Sacha Baron Cohen might be joining the cast. According to MovieLine, Baron Cohen could be playing Scotty Harmony, a slave owner who buys Kerry Washington’s character Broomhilda as a “female companion.” Sacha Baron Cohen is an actor who’s “type” hasn’t been pinned down yet, such as playing the hero or bad guy it would seem. Or he’s one of those actors that don’t have a “type,” so it’ll be very interesting…

In Your Opinion: J. Edgar

Monday, November 14th, 2011

J. Edgar, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is obviously Oscar bait. But is it good? According to Rotten Tomatoes, the critics are slightly indifferent to the film even though DiCaprio gives it his all. The critics gave the film an overall score of 41%, and the audience was much kinder, giving it a 67%. The consensus of the critics, according to Rotten Tomatoes, “Leonardo DiCaprio gives a predictably powerhouse performance, but ‘J.Edgar’ stumbles in all other departments with cheesy makeup, poor lighting, confusing narrative, and humdrum storytelling.” When I saw the first trailer, I actually didn’t think the makeup was all that bad, but the more I…

Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio Break-Up After Highly Publicized Relationship

Friday, October 7th, 2011

Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio have confirmed that they have ended their five-month, highly-publicized relationship, and the ‘Gossip Girl’ actress is unfazed by the break-up, US Magazine is reporting. Lively reportedly wasn’t ready to give the ‘J. Edgar’ actor the commitment he was looking for; the relationship was reportedly moving too quickly for her, and she isn’t ready to settle down yet. The 36-year-old DiCaprio is reportedly looking for someone to eventually start a family with, but the 24-year-old Lively isn’t in the same place as he is. But the break-up didn’t stop the actress from stopping at the Renaissance Hotel in New York City the day after her break-up…

J. Edgar Trailer Released

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

The trailer for one of the potential Oscar-nominated movies of 2011, “J. Edgar,” has been released. I say it’s a potential Oscar-nominated film not only because it’s the (supposedly) unflinching, realistic biopic about a former U.S. president, but it is also directed by Oscar veterans Clint Eastwood and Leonardo DiCaprio. The trailer for the film is below the post, and I have to say, that it looks really good. The trailer really brings across the totalitarian nature Hoover had over the country. And the aging makeup on DiCaprio isn’t so bad either. It would seem like the film is positioning itself to tell a “Citizen Kane”-style story. We shall see…

Movie News Cheat Sheet: Tyler Perry Has Money, In Time Has A Lawsuit And Nic Cage Has Fangs

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

Can you feel the chill in the air? Winter’s coming! Okay, so many of you likely don’t live in the northeast and this is the Movie News Cheat Sheet, so there’s little room for TV references here, but fall is right around the corner! Even with Oscar season approaching, our Academy Awards potentials aren’t getting much love at the box office. After a weak start, Warrior took a tough fall and this weekend newcomer Drive lacked the zest to earn it the #1 spot, or even the #2 one for that matter. In other dark news, Nicolas Cage is apparently a vampire and Tim Burton’s take on Dark Shadows looks…

Leonardo DiCaprio and Clint Eastwood in J Edgar

First look at Leonardo DiCaprio and Clint Eastwood in J. Edgar

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

There hasn’t been much news about the biopic “J. Edgar” in a long time, but finally, Entertainment Weekly has the first look at the film. In the pictures posted by EW, DiCaprio is in costume as J. Edgar Hoover and taking direction from Clint Eastwood. EW also has some insight behind the movie from the film’s screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (“Milk”) and Eastwood. “I started to become curious about the ‘why’ [about why Hoover became a tyrant],” said Black. “He did wonderful things for his country, but why did he end up doing so many things that were heinous or harmful? I think it was all in the name of…
