Summit Acquiring The Rights To Homelanders

Summit Entertainment is in negotiations to acquire the big-screen adaptation rights to the young adult book series “Homelanders” by Andrew Klavan. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura has been attached to produce the adaptation, which is about a young man who wakes up one morning in a random nightmare involving forces beyond his control. The first two books in the series are called “The Last Thing I Remember” and “The Long Way Home”. The third untitled volume is slated for release this November. Matthew Greenberg to Write Pet Sematary Remake

Screenwriter Matthew Greenberg is on board to adapt another Stephen King story for the big screen, The Hollywood Reporter announced on March 4. Greenberg, who penned the screenplay for the 2007 hit ’1408′ with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson, is now set to write the movie remake of King’s novel ‘Pet Sematary.’ Paramount Pictures is releasing the movie, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who produced ’1408,’ and Steven Schneider set to produce. ‘Pet Sematary’ was at one point going to be produced by Alphaville, with Mike Werb and Michael Colleary from ‘Face/Off’ fame set to write. Morgan Freeman Joins Red

Variety is reporting that Morgan Freeman is in talks to star in “Red”, the comic adaptation of the Vertigo/DC title from Summit Entertainment that will also star Bruce Willis. Erich Hoeber and Jon Hoeber are writing the script, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing. Gregory Noveck from DC will serve as executive producer. “Red” was written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Cully Hamner, about a former black-ops CIA killer in retirement who finds that he has been marked for death and goes “red”, meaning on the hunt, to defend himself. The three-book series was published in 2003 and 2004 from Wildstorm, an imprint of DC comics….
