Rashida Jones Joins The Social Network

Rashida Jones is joining the cast of Columbia Pictures’ “The Social Network,” the story of the founding and rise of the worldwide social networking website Facebook. Justin Timberlake and Jesse Eisenberg are on board “The Social Network” as founders Sean Parker and Mark Zuckerberg respectively, in the David Fincher-directed and Aaron Sorkin-penned project. The film is based on the 2009 novel by Ben Mezrich, “The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding Of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal.” “The Social Network” is currently filming in Los Angeles. Mark Dindal Is Directing Housebroken

Variety.com is reporting that Mark Dindal (“Chicken Little”) will be directing “Housebroken” for Walden Media, with Michael De Luca producing and Sean Perrone and Aaron Kaplan onboard as executive producers. There is no script yet for “Housebroken” but Variety reports that Walden is looking for writers for the project, to expand on the original story by Adam Sztykiel. “Housebroken” is slated as a live-action film where the pets of a newly-married couple must learn to live together and get along. Casting Announced In The Social Network

Columbia Pictures and director David Fincher have announced a core cast for “The Social Network,” the Aaron Sorkin-scripted film about the formation of Facebook, the social networking site. Jesse Eisenberg will play Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, with Justin Timberlake playing Napster co-founder and Facebook’s founding president Sean Parker, and Andrew Garfield will play Eduardo Saverin, the Facebook co-founder who fell out with Zuckerberg over money issues. The film will focus on the creation and evolution of the social networking website, created in 2004 at Harvard, and how the success of the project affected the lives of the founders. Dreamworks Remaking Fright Night

DreamWorks is in the process of remaking the classic horror-comedy “Fright Night.” Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig of Gaeta/Rosenzweig Films, and Michael De Luca are producing the remake. Mark Sourian, co-president of production at DreamWorks, is overseeing the project. The original “Fright Night” was written and directed by Tom Holland in 1985. Starring William Ragsdale, Chris Sarandon, Roddy McDowall, and Stephen Geoffreys, the horror comedy was about a teen who discovers that his neighbors are in fact, vampires. Paul Bettany To Take On Priest

Paul Bettany, according to a repory from The Hollywood Reporter, is in negotiations to star in “Priest,” a horror Western based on the TokyoPop comic book of the same name about a supernaturally-gifted holy man who battles demons, vampires, and other legions of the undead, led by 12 fallen angels and by the archangel Temozarela. Michael De Luca and Josh Donen of Stars Road Entertainment are producing for Screen Gems alongside Mitchell Peck. Scott Stewart is attached to direct, having just directed Bettany in the supernatural thriller “Legion” for Screen Gems. Cory Goodman (“The Brood”) wrote the screenplay.
