The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Ryan Carnes (“Desperate Housewives”) has been cast in “The Phantom”, the cable channel’s adaptation of the classic comic news strip about the purple-clad ghostlike avenger. Isabella Rossellini will guest star in the mini-series as the villainous Lithia, bent on succeeding with her mind-control power experiments. Cameron Goodman and Sandrine Holt are also starring. “The Phantom” begins production on Monday, and will air next year on Syfyas a four-hour movie/mini-series. BroadcastNow has released a slew of promotional posters, including one for the upcoming mini-series “The Prisoner”, a reimagining of the classic British TV series from the 1960′s that will star Sir Ian McKellen and James Caviezel, coming to cable channel AMC this year. Variety is reporting that the Sci-Fi Channel has greenlit “Caprica,” the highly-anticipated prequel to the hit TV series “Battlestar Galactica”. Premiering with a TV miniseries in 2003, and the follow-up TV series in 2004, “Battlestar Galactica” is revamped take on the classic and sometime cheesy cult 70′s show about space pilgrims fleeing a race of deadly conqueror robots known as the Cylons, as they search for sanctuary on the long-lost planet Earth. It has become one of the cable channel’s biggest hits. “Caprica” will star Esai Morales, Eric Stoltz, Paula Malcomson and Polly Walker, and will be set 50 years prior to the start of “Galactica’s” and the Cylon invasion….
