Katie Holmes has been tapped to star in Miramax’s upcoming “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark,” a thriller scripted by Guillermo del Toro and Matthew Robbins. Del Toro and Mark Johnson are producing the film, which is being directed by del Toro protege and former comic-book artist Troy Nixey. “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” is based on a 1973 ABC telepic, about a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend. Gradually she discovers that the family is sharing the house with devilish creatures that thrive in the dark. No other information has been released about the project yet. Miramax and Focus Features Intl. have snagged the rights to an English language remake of the French thriller “Tell No One” from EuropaCorp. The original 2006 film focuses on a doctor grieving his dead wife, the victim of a serial killer. Several years later, he is implicated in the deaths of two other people, and discovers that in fact, his wife might actually still be alive and a greater conspiracy is brewing around him.
