IMDb founder Col Needham said the movie database has set a major goal for the future to add one-button streaming for all of its 1.3 million titles.
Needham says that the vision is long-term, mostly because of the hurdles the site will face from the content owners who control said titles.
He continued, saying that streaming may be difficult “because many of the films may not exist anymore and many may not be available for streaming.”
Fellow streaming websites such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and iTunes have their own arrangement with the content owners, so for IMDb to get access to the entire library would be a huge achievement.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures has purchased the rights to the Wired Magazine article “The Untold Story of the World’s Biggest Diamond Heist,” by writer Joshua Davis, with plans to produce a big-screen version of the incredible story in the article. Josh Abrams (Star Trek) will take on the project as a producer and potentially as a director through his Bad Robot imprint.

Spanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who last directed “28 Weeks Later” in 2007, the sequel to the British horror hit, has been attached to help develop a remake of sorts of the classic “X: The Man With The X-Ray Eyes” with MGM. Lou Arkoff will be executive produce the project, and Mandeville Films partners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman will be producing with Enrique Lopez Lavigne.

Universal’s remake of the 1977 comedy classic Slap Shot is officially moving forward because it now has a director onboard.
Dean Parisot, known for directing films such as the Jim Carrey comedy Fun with Dick and Jane, Home Fries, which starred Luke Wilson and Drew Barrymore, and sci-fi parody GalaxyQuest, will be the man in charge of the picture.

IESB is reporting that is has a confirmation of screenwriter Dan Mazeau working on a script for the silver-screen treatment of DC Comic’s scarlet speedster, The Flash.
Though he refused to confirm the report, he did say “I was always a big fan of the comics. I was around for… Gosh, this is embarrassing, you know, the last two Flashes. The Flash that was the policeman and Kid Flash, Wally, and his uncle. Those are the two Flashes that I grew with, so I was excited to have the opportunity to try and see if I could actually translate those characters to the screen.”

Actress Dakota Fanning has been offered the role of a bloodsucker in the Twilight sequel, New Moon, according to various reports.
Fanning is currently in talks to play an Italian vampire opposite Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson.
The role up for grabs is that of Jane, who is described in a casting call as a petite blonde with a “Botticelli angel-like face… [and] crimson irises.” The character is a member of Italy’s Volturi, the most deadly group of vampires in author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling series.

Screenwriter John August has been attached to the big-screen adaptation of the cult graphic novel “Preacher” from DC Vertigo, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter.
August, who was also attached to the adaptation of the DC Captain Marvel/Shazam adaptation that he lamented about in his blog two weeks ago, is also attached to the Tim Burton/Disney title “Frankenweenie” according to the report.
The road to live-action adaptation for “Preacher” goes back to 1998, the closest so far being a 2006 announcement by HBO to begin a live-action series based on the comic. Columbia bought the rights to the title in October 2008 and director Sam Mendes (”Jarhead”, [...]
