Posted by monique On July - 2 - 2011 0 Comment

The Hollywood Reporter has had a question-and-answer session with Carson Daly, the host of NBC’s singing competition show “The Voice.” In the interview, Daly talks about the plans for the upcoming season. When asked about whether the winner, Javier Colon, was the right choice, Daly said, “I don’t think they could have made a wrong choice. Our whole goal was to put the best artist on stage all year long and by the time we got to our top 16, you’re really looking at strong artists. I think they definitely got it right.” As for next season (which will see the return of star judges Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee  [ Read More ]

It’s official! According to Entertainment Weekly, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler have been signed back on as judges for “American Idol”. This will make the show’s 11th season, as well as Jackson’s 11th season as a judge on the show. The only wild card this time around is Jennifer Lopez, who is reportedly “on the fence” due to her new “American Idol”-esque project “Q’Viva.” Time for my personal opinion: After sitting through this season of “American Idol,” I would hope beyond hope that the two judges–three, if Lopez returns–stop reusing the same words and phrases like “beautiful,” “beyond critique”, and the now-infamous, “In it to win it.” Also, in the  [ Read More ]

James Spader is currently in talks with NBC to replace Steve Carrell on ‘The Office,’ Entertainment Weekly is reporting. While the Emmy-winning actor’s character Robert California was originally in negotiations to become the new manager of the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin, the mockumentary’s producers are now considering having Robert replace Kathy Bates’ character Jo Bennett as the CEO of the paper company. Bates will reportedly leave her ‘Office’ role to solely focus on Season 2 of her other NBC show, the legal dramedy ‘Harry’s Law.’ However, Spader’s deal isn’t final yet, and no scripts have been written yet for ‘The Office.’ If he does join the show, he will  [ Read More ]

NBC's Playboy Club Won't Air On KSL-TV!

Posted by Sarah Anne Luoma On June - 14 - 2011 3 Comments

KSL TV, an affiliate of the NBC Network, of Salt Lake City, won’t be airing the upcoming drama ‘Playboy Club’ this coming Fall! KSL has sited that the series from creator Chad Hodge, that travels back in time to 1963, following the days of the first Playboy club in Chicago and its bunnies, isn’t appropriate. KSL also went on to explain that since the Playboy brand is “known internationally” airing such a program is against their moral code. KSL is operated under the guidelines of the Mormon Church. I have to say at first glance a title like the Playboy Club conjures a few thoughts, but since it was picked  [ Read More ]

Fear Factor To Return To NBC

Posted by monique On June - 3 - 2011 0 Comment

“Fear Factor” was one of my favorite shows back in the late ’90s-early ’00s, and it was one of the precursors to the huge reality show craze that’s still (in some cases, sadly) going on today. But it would seem that reality television has come back full circle to when it was awesome; “Fear Factor” has finally returned to NBC! According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC and Endemol are bringing the show back to television. The show will be updated; the host of the reboot has not yet been named, but Endemol North America Chairman David Goldberg has said that former host Joe Rogan is “high on the list”, according  [ Read More ]

NBC Release 2011 Fall TV Schedule

Posted by Rudie Obias On May - 15 - 2011 0 Comment

NBC has released their 2011 Fall TV schedule early and from the looks of things, it looks like NBC has a firm plant on reality TV on Mondays with “The Sing-Off” and a new drama “The Playboy Club” (the title alone will get viewers). NBC is moving their usual Monday favorite, “Chuck” to Friday night. I don’t this is a problem so much as this is the final season of “Chuck” anyway and their loyal and vocal fanbase will most likely be home on a Friday night (they’re mostly geeks). Right now, NBC has ordered 13 episode for the fifth and final season of “Chuck”, but if it has good  [ Read More ]

Universal In Turnaround For The Dark Tower?

Posted by Rudie Obias On May - 8 - 2011 0 Comment

This is probably the most ambitious movie project since Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of The Rings” Trilogy. Universal is looking to develop Stephen King’s widely popular book series “The Dark Tower” into a movie trilogy AND two seasons of TV, in-between each movie . This project will take a lot of commitment from production crews, actors, filmmakers and studios. Ron Howard is developing these projects and is looking to direct, at least, the first movie in the series. On the TV production side, it looks like most likely, the TV series will head to NBC (or its cable network) since it’s part of Universal. My guess would be NBC, I  [ Read More ]

The Playboy Club Sparking Controversy Over Nudity Scenes

Posted by Karen Benardello On April - 4 - 2011 0 Comment

NBC’s upcoming series ‘The Playboy Club’ is already getting complaints from the Parents Television Council (PTC), as the actors have a clause in their contracts stating that nudity may be required, tvline.com is reporting. The clause also states that simulated sex acts may be required as well. While these scenes won’t appear on the NBC broadcast version, they may be included in the international DVD releases or cable syndication. The pilot, which is now wrapping in Chicago, doesn’t include any nudity. But PTC president Tim Winter released a statement, saying that when Congress was reviewing the NBC Universal-Comcast merger, he “called on the FCC to force Comcast to stipulate that  [ Read More ]
