Netflix and Showtime May Air New Arrested Development Episodes

The producers of the critically-acclaimed but short-lived sitcom ‘Arrested Development’ are in talks with Netflix and Showtime to air several new original episodes of the series, EW is reporting. The show’s creator, Mitchell Hurwitz, has said that he wants to shoot nine to 10 episodes that would air next fall. The new episodes will update fans on what’s happening with the Bluth family since the series ended in 2006 on FOX. IMDb Hopes to Stream All Titles One Day

IMDb founder Col Needham said the movie database has set a major goal for the future to add one-button streaming for all of its 1.3 million titles. Needham says that the vision is long-term, mostly because of the hurdles the site will face from the content owners who control said titles. He continued, saying that streaming may be difficult “because many of the films may not exist anymore and many may not be available for streaming.” Fellow streaming websites such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and iTunes have their own arrangement with the content owners, so for IMDb to get access to the entire library would be a huge achievement. Netflix to Hold Moviewatching Contest for Guinness World Records

Starting on October 2nd, 2008 in New York City’s famous Times Square, Netflix and the Guinness World Records are holding an eight-person contest to see who can break the current record for the most consecutive hours spent watching movies. The current record is held by Ashish Sharma of Mathura, India who spent 120 hours and 23 minutes watching movies last June. He will be flying across the globe to participate in this year’s event.
