Ewan McGregor May Join 'Jack The Giant Killer'

If negotiations work out right, Ewan McGregor may soon be charging into battle against a bunch of giants. The famed actor is in the middle of talks to possibly be in Bryan Singer’s “Jack the Giant Killer,” set up under New Line Cinema and Legendary Pictures. Warner Bros. and New Line Halt Y: The Last Man Adaptation

Warner Bros. and New Line are scrapping the planned adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan’s comic book ‘Y: The Last Man,’ at least for the time being. Louis Leterrier, who directed such movies as ‘The Incredible Hulk’ and ‘Clash of the Titans,’ was at one time attached to bring the comic to the big screen. Final Destination 5 Plot and Cast Announced

September 22, 2010 – Production is underway on New Line Cinema’s fifth installment of the “Final Destination” franchise, which began back in 2000, with the original film quickly becoming a cult hit. The new victims of Death’s plan are part of a cast led by Emma Bell (Frozen, TV’s “The Walking Dead”) and Nick D’Agosto (Fired Up!, TV’s “Heroes”). The film is being shot on location in Vancouver, Canada. Final Destination 5 Potential Directors All First Timers

Apparently earning nearly $200 million worldwide carries more weight than the title The Final Destination, major emphasis on the the. According to Vulture, the folks at New Line Cinema have no plan to leave the franchise be as intended and are pushing forward with a fifth installment. None of the films were praised by critics, but the fourth reached an all-time low on the Tomatometer earning a measly 27%. Even the studio is baffled by The Final Destination’s success. One executive confessed, “It’s the worst film of the franchise. New Line And ESPN Working On Mulkey

New Line and the ESPN cable sports channel will be producing the sports biopic “Mulkey”. Mike Tollin is attached to direct as well as co-produce the feature. The film is about the life of South Carolina firefighter and assistant high school basketball coach Louis Mulkey, who died while fighting a fire at a Charleston furniture store. The fire department then donated a memorial helmet to the school, who carried it with them to games. The helmet sat on the bench the following season in 2007, when the team won its first-ever state championship. Director Tapped For The Orphanage Remake

Mark Pellington has been tapped to direct “The Orphanage” for New Line Cinema. The film, written by Larry Fessenden and Guillermo Del Toro, is a remake of the 2007 Spanish-language “El Orfanato,” which was directed by Del Toro protege Juan Antonio Bayona. A woman returns to the orphanage where she grew up as a child to reopen it as a home for disabled children. While there she discovers that her son’s new “imaginary friend” might not be so imaginary, as well as be connected to several ghosts from her own past. Shia LaBeouf Officially Not In Y The Last Man Adaptation

Despite numerous rumors to the contrary in the past two years, Shia LaBeouf, who is slated to appear in the upcoming “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”, will not be starring in a big-screen adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra’s hit comic book series “Y: The Last Man”, which is slated to be directed by D.J. Caruso and written by Carl Ellsworth. Gyllenhaal and Carrey to Star in Damn Yankees

Actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Jim Carrey have signed up with New Line Cinema for a film adaptation of the musical Damn Yankees. Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel (Parenthood, Fever Pitch, Robots) are set to write the script with Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the duo behind the Hairspray adaptation. Damn Yankees focuses on Joe Boyd, a happily married middle-aged man whose devotion to a unlucky professional baseball team prompts him to make a deal with the devil to help the team win the World Series.
