Andy Serkis’ work as Caesar in “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” has earned the actor a Virtuoso Award from the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. While at the event, Serkis talked about what it’s like to be the go-to guy for motion-capture characters. “The great thing is that performance capture technology is now being realized as an actor’s tool,” he said. “It isn’t really a specialized form of acting. Acting is acting. It’s just a different way of recording an actor’s performance. But it’s taken a long time for people to understand that.” He also said how great is to be back as Gollum in “The Hobbit: An…

The screenwriter and director of the film, Tate Taylor, has been announced as the recipient for the Writers Guild of America, West’s 2012 Paul Selvin Award. “Tate Taylor’s adapted screenplay for The Help artfully distills the empowering essence and core emotional truths of Kathryn Stockwell’s novel, translating it into a film that forcefully illustrates how ordinary people can impact positive social change. Evoking a specific time and place, the film’s message is ultimately universal and remains relevant today. Tate’s honor is well-deserved – and his script does Paul Selvin’s…

This week on “Project Runway All Stars,” the group had to create a look based on a muse–a person they’ve found on the streets of New York City that has amazing street style. They also had to make this look from the clothes others have given, literally off their backs. The challenge is a good challenge, one that should really test the mettle of the designers. Jerell, however, goes a little overboard with his design, making what can only be described as a weird conglomeration of patterns and colors. Jerell claims the outfit shows his love for ethnic fabrics, but his outfit also shows a lot of love to a…
