The folks at Paramount are very proud of their Academy Award nominees. Paramount is allowing people in 26 select cities across America and Canada to watch the film Friday, September 30 at 6 p.m. PT, 7 p.m. CT and 8 p.m. ET, two weeks ahead of the official October 14 release date. Paramount Pictures has announced Friday that Academy Award winner Denzel Washington will star in “Flight,” a film which will be directed by Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis. British television writer-producer Drew Pearce has been hired by Paramount to write the film adaptation of the DC Comic series “The Mighty”, Variety is reporting. The studio acquired the rights to the comic in early June 2011, and Chris Bender and JC Spink have signed on to produce the film through their Benderspink banner. Jake Weiner has also signed on to produce the movie. “The Mighty” is an original graphic novel that was written by Peter J. Tomasi and Keith Champagne. Want to catch Captain America: The First Avenger before anyone else? Well, if you’re heading to San Diego for Comic Con, you’ll get that chance. Paramount and Marvel are giving convention goers first dibs on the new release, unleashing it at noon PST on Thursday, July 21st at the UA Horton Plaza 14, one day before the film officially hits theaters.
