Title: Young Adult Directed By: Jason Reitman Starring: Charlize Theron, Patton Oswalt, Patrick Wilson, Elizabeth Reaser, Collette Wolfe Mavis Gary might not have grown up in the least, but Diablo Cody has achieved an incredible degree of maturity in her latest piece, Young Adult. While Young Adult exudes a different type of comedy as compared to Juno and most certainly Jennifer’s Body, it still maintains the zest, heart and humor that solidified Cody as a top-notch screenwriter back in 2007. Mavis Gary (Charlize Theron) is a successful young adult writer living in the big city of Minneapolis, Minnesota – well, a once successful ghostwriter. Not only is Mavis’ name not…

We’ve got a bit of a problem; I love this clip, but it somewhat spoils one of the best scenes in Young Adult. In fact, I don’t know if I even want to describe the clip here. Let’s just leave it as a “watch at your own risk” piece and move onto a full film synopsis. Charlize Theron is Mavis Gary, a former high school hottie who moved to the “Mini Apple,” Minneapolis, and became the ghostwriter of a popular young adult novel series. After a failed marriage and getting assigned to pen the final installment of the now-failing Waverly Prep collection, Mavis opts to return to her glory days…

The buzz is slowly growing around the new film “Young Adult,” starring Charlize Theron and written by “Juno” writer Diablo Cody. I think one of the draws of this film will be who will be the bigger star in the film–Theron, or Cody, since this film marks her return to film writing since “Jennifer’s Body,” starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried (before and after the film, Cody has taken to television writing, with “The United States of Tara” and “Children’s Hospital” being among her resume). The trailer for the film is below the post. You can learn more about the film at YoungAdultMovie.com as at the film’s official Facebook page…

Rachelle Lefevre has been cast as a series regular on CBS’ upcoming supernatural medical drama ‘A Gifted Man,’ TVLine is reporting. The actress, who played Dr. Ryan Clark this past season on the short-lived ABC medical drama ‘Off the Map,’ will play Kate, a doctor who begins working at a family clinic, on ‘A Gifted Man.’ Patrick Wilson will co-star as Dr. Michael Holt, the titular surgeon, on the show, which premieres Friday, September 23, 2011. While Michael’s a talented doctor, he is socially aloof, until he begins having meaningful relationships with his ex-wife, played by Jennifer Ehle. Michael will begin spending more time with Kate at the clinic, instead…

Title: The Ledge Writer-director: Matthew Chapman Starring: Charlie Hunnam, Liv Tyler, Patrick Wilson, Terrence Howard, Chris Gorham A tapestral suspense drama about the intertwined romantic fates of a quartet of Baton Rouge residents – each wounded in their own way, and some more freshly than others — The Ledge exhibits a willingness and desire to let its characters bat back and forth opposing philosophies of life and faith more frequently found on display in literature or off-Broadway theater. An interesting character study only half-successfully masquerading as a kind of specifically plotted romantic thriller, writer-director Matthew Chapman’s movie resembles the smart and sensitive but still gangly teenager pushed out of the door, wearing clothes…

What’s the way to Liv Tyler’s heart? Well, it’s either being a hardcore evangelical or a total nonbeliever because in the upcoming film The Ledge, Tyler’s character, Shauna, is caught between just that. Shauna’s husband, Joe (Patrick Wilson), is a firm believer in being born again, but her new neighbor, Gavin (Charlie Hunnam), doesn’t see the logic in Joe’s preaching. When Joe entices Gavin to step onto the ledge of a high-rise building, he gives him just one hour to decide whether to save his own life or the life of his love. The Ledge is available on Demand through IFC Films via Comcast, Cox, Cablevision, Time Warner and Bright…

Title: Insidious Directed By: James Wan Starring: Rose Byrne, Patrick Wilson, Ty Simpkins, Lin Shaye, Barbara Hershey, Leigh Whannell, Angus Sampson, Andrew Astor It’s taken three months, but we’ve finally got a 2011 horror film worth seeing; something overwhelmingly unnerving with the power to keep you up at night, Insidious. It’s got a little Nightmare on Elm Street, a part The Exorcist and a hint of Paranormal Activity, too and the results certainly honor genre expectations all while delivering an exhilarating, unique and horrifyingly unpredictable experience. Josh and Renai (Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne) are a pretty happy couple. They’ve had their issues, but are leaving them behind by moving…
