The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Columbia Pictures is developing a brand new “Bad Boys 3″ film for director Michael Bay and stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Peter Craig has been tapped by the studio to write the screenplay. The two previous “Boys” movies from 1995 and 2003 featured Smith and Lawrence as Miami PD detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. The first film grossed $66 million domestically and $141 million worldwide, while the sequel grossed $138 million domestically and $273 million worldwide. It also helped launch Smith as a worldwide action star. Neither Bay, Lawrence, or Smith have officially committed to anything related to a third film so…

Variety is reporting that Ben Affleck will rewrite, direct, as well as star in the upcoming film “The Town” for Warner Brothers Studios. “The Town” is a the big-screen adaptation of “The Prince of Thieves” a novel by author Chuck Hogan concerning a thief, his crew, and his budding feelings for the manager of a local bank. The project recently had director Adrian Lyne attached to it before the change, and would be based in Charlestown, Mass.
