Sam Mendes In Talks To Direct Next James Bond Film

Director Sam Mendes is in negotiations to direct the next “James Bond” film, the 23rd installment of the famous action/espionage franchise. Director Sam Mendes is perhaps best know for his work on “American Beauty” and “Road to Perdition”. Production is being eyed for a June start, with a tentative 2011 release. Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are writing the script with Peter Morgan (“Frost/Nixon”). Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are producing. Daniel Craig will be returning for the role of world-trotting super spy James Bond, aka Agent 007. No title has yet been announced yet for the upcoming Bond film, nor any other casting information. Bryce Dallas Howard Joins Hereafter

Bryce Dallas Howard has signed to star in Clint Eastwood’s supernatural drama “Hereafter” for Warner Brothers, joining Matt Damon. Written by Peter Morgan, “Hereafter” is the story of a blue-collar American, a London school boy, and a French journalist who are all touched by death in various ways. “Hereafter” is being produced by Eastwood, along with Kathleen Kennedy and Robert Lorenz. On as executive producers are Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, Peter Morgan and Tim Moore. Filming on “Hereafter” has already begun in Paris, London, Hawaii and San Francisco. Cecile De France Joins Hereafter

Variety.com is reporting that Cecile de France (“High Tension”) has been attached to star opposite Matt Damon in Clint Eastwood’s “Hereafter”, his upcoming supernatural drama for Warner Bros. Written by Peter Morgan, “Hereafter” is about three different people who are all touched by death and affected in different ways by their experiences. Principal photography began last month on “Hereafter.” The project is being produced by Eastwood, Kathleen Kennedy and Robert Lorenz, with Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, Tim Moore, and Peter Morgan onboard as executive producers. “Hereafter” is slated for a tentative December 2010 release. Peter Morgan Attached To Write New James Bond

Peter Morgan (“Frost/Nixon”) has been announced as joining the writing team of the next James Bond film, alongside James Bond veterans Robert Wade and Neal Purvis. Morgan wrote both the the play and screen versions of “Frost/Nixon,” as well as the award-winning films “The Last King of Scotland” and “The Queen.” He is also writing “The Special Relationship” for HBO and “Hereafter” for DreamWorks. Recent Quantum of Solace star Daniel Craig has already signed on to star in the next untitled Bond film. No other information has been released yet. Langella Almost Missed Out on Nixon

Frank Langella had to fight for his role of former U.S. President Richard Nixon in Frost/Nixon because studio bosses wanted to give the role to screen legend Warren Beatty. Langella had played the role onstage in London and New York in its original stage run, but when producers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer decided to adapt it for the big screen, they knew they would have difficulty convincing executives Langella should keep the role.
