Idris Elba is being considered for a role in director Guillermo Del Toro’s 2013 alien film ‘Pacific Rim,’ Slashfilm is reporting. While the character he would play in the movie hasn’t being publicly confirmed, the news comes after the ‘Thor’ actor tweeted “having one of the biggest meetings of my professional life today…meeting a very controversial director for a very controversial part.” It was initially widely believed that the part Elba was referring to in his tweet was in Quentin Tarantion’s ‘Django Unchained;’ however, that rumor has yet to be confirmed or denied. Will Smith is now the main contender to portray the title character in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming spaghetti Western ‘Django Unchained,’ The Hollywood Reporter is claiming. The film follows the slave Django as he searches for his wife with a German bounty hunter in the Old South. Also up for main roles are Tarantino alum Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz. While the movie will be distributed by the Weinstein Co. domestically, Tarantino is currently looking at several studios, including Universal, Sony, Paramount and Warner Bros., to distribute ‘Django Unchained’ internationally. It seems like big Hollywood stars are looking to work with Quentin Tarantino. In 2009, it was Brad Pitt in “Inglourious Basterds” and now it seems to be Will Smith will be cast in “Django Unchained”. It is reported that Will Smith is close to becoming attached to the Spaghetti Western inspired film. Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz are said to also be attached to the project. Excitement for Quentin Tarantino’s long awaited follow-up to his Oscar Nominated film, “Inglourious Basterds”, were rampant when the title page of his new screenplay emerged on Twitter. The title “Django Unchained” conjures images of Italian Westerns of the 1960s and 1970s and unshaved cowboys dragging a coffin into nameless, muddy desert towns. Franco Nero who played the original Django and breakout star of “Inglourious Basterds”, Christoph Waltz are attached to this project, which is on the fast track to production by The Weinstein Company. It has been long rumored that Quentin Tarantino has been writing a new screenplay, supposedly a Western. There were other rumored based on interviews with potential cast members, citing the name of the new project was entitled “A Southern”. Quentin Tarantino is bringing his unusual flair for drama to the court room, as he is claiming his next door neighbor’s exotic birds are preventing him from penning scripts, www.tmz.com is reporting. The writer-director has filed a lawsuit in L.A. County Superior Court, saying his neighbor, ‘True Blood’ creator Alan Ball, has so many birds that emit “blood-curdling screams” that he can’t concentrate on his work.
