Justin Haythe Set to Write The Lone Ranger

Production for Walt Disney Pictures’ ‘The Lone Ranger’ is officially moving forward. Heat Vision confirmed on February 12 that ‘Revolutionary Road’ writer Justin Haythe is set to work on the script, replacing ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Haythe is able to work on the script because his last writing job with the studio, ’20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo,’ fell apart during the recent executive turnover. Jerry Bruckheimer is set to produce ‘The Lone Ranger,’ with Johnny Depp and George Clooney rumored to star in the main roles. The story will follow the Lone Ranger’s (presumably played by Clooney)…

Justin Haythe (“Revolutionary Road”) is in negotiations to write the script for the Walt Disney adaptation of the classic character “The Lone Ranger.” Jerry Bruckheimer is producing, and Johnny Depp is attached as the Ranger’s sidekick, the Indian Tonto. Haythe would be replacing “Pirates of the Caribbean” scribes Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, who have previously tackled adapting the story. The Lone Ranger was once a Texas Ranger whose group of Rangers were pursuing a gang of outlaws who abushed the Rangers, leaving them all for dead.
