The winners of the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced during the live broadcast on NBC on January 15, 2012, from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. While there were several surprises during the ceremony, including controversial host Ricky Gervais returning for third year in a row, some winners were completely expected. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a source close to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has told the site that Ricky Gervais may be the host of the Golden Globes even after the controversy he sparked when he hosted it in January. HBO has confirmed after several months of speculation that it will air Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s new comedy series ‘Life’s Too Short’ in 2012, Deadline is reporting. The seven-episode series, which was co-created by ‘The Office’ star and Stephen Merchant, will first debut on BBC Two in late 2011. Much like ‘The Office’ and ‘Extras,’ which Gervais co-created with Merchant, ‘Life’s Too Short’ will be a faux documentary. Ricky Gervais has criticized the hour-long Season 7 finale of the American version of ‘The Office,’ writing on his blog that “If you’re going to jump a shark, jump a big one,” TVGuide is reporting.
