Ray Stevenson, Jaime King, Stephen Moyer, Robert Duvall and James Caan are all attached to star in the post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller “Tribes of October”. Philippe Martinez is directing and producing, based on a script from Nick Vallelonga and Paul Sloan. The film is set in a future where New York, technologically crippled with nothing made past the 1960′s working, is surrounded by desert wastelands. Stevenson will play a detective who is targeting a power-hungry Mafia don, played by Cann. Variety reports that the Coen brothers are set to remake True Grit, the classic Western film that won John Wayne an Oscar. Based on a Charles Portis novel, True Grit is about a 14-year-old girl who, along with an aging U.S. Marshal and another lawman, tracks her father’s killer in hostile Indian territory. While the original film was a showcase for Wayne and co-starred Kim Darby, Glen Campbell, Jeff Corey, Robert Duvall and Dennis Hopper, the Coens’ version will stick to Portis’ novel closer and tell the tale from the girl’s point-of-view.
