Variety is reporting that Russell Crowe is slated to star in “The Next Three Days”, an adaptation of the 2008 French film “Pour Elle”. Writer and director Paul Haggis will be taking on the adaptation. Crow will play a teacher whose wife is arrested and convicted of murder, which she says she is innocent of. He comes up with a desperate plan to free her and prove her innocence. Production is set to begin in late September 2009, in Pittsburgh. According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Vanessa Redgrave is joining the cast of Ridley Scott’s untitled Robin Hood project. The film, which is beginning production in the U.K., stars Russell Crowe as Robin Hood; Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian; Mark Strong as King John’s henchman Sir Godfrey; Scott Grimes as Welshman Will Scarlet; Kevin Durand as Scotsman Little John; and Alan Doyle as the Irish troubadour Allan Adayle. According to The Hollywood Reporter, actors Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand and Alan Doyle have been cast as the group of adventurers in Ridley Scott’s untitled Robin Hood tale. Grimes has been cast in the role of Will Scarlet, a skilled swordsman and Hood’s nephew, while Durand and Doyle are playing Hood’s right-hand man Little John and Alan a Dayle, respectively. Grimes is best known for his role on hit TV drama “ER” and providing voice parts to characters in “American Dad!”. Universal Pictures has done a major revision of its 2009 release calendar, moving Fast and the Furious 4, Ridley Scott’s Nottingham and The Wolfman remake. Fast and the Furious 4, originally scheduled to premiere on June 12th, is now set to hit the big screen on April 3rd, taking the place of The Wolfman. The classic monster movie remake, which stars Benicio Del Toro with Joe Johnston directing, has been pushed to a November 6th release date. Scott’s Nottingham, starring Russell Crowe, was bumped from 2009 entirely and will open sometime in 2010, but no official date was set. Actor Javier Bardem reports that natives of his home country of Spain blamed him for selling out after winning an Oscar last year.
