Title: The Innkeepers Directed By: Ti West Starring: Sara Paxton, Pat Healy, Kelly McGillis, George Riddle, Alison Bartlett, Lena Dunham, Jake Ryan, John Speredakos Sick of all the same old tricks in the horror genre? Well, get ready because The Innkeepers uses them all. Eerie tracking shots, spooky noises and an unoriginal story, but, oddly enough, writer-director Ti West manages to put enough of his authorial expressivity on the piece to deliver something that may not feel fresh, but is still refreshingly nostalgic. It’s the Yankee Pedlar Inn’s last days in business and Claire and Luke (Sara Paxton and Pat Healy) are the only two employees left, assigned to keep…

Odds are, when you consider the horror genre in general, you’re thinking bloodbaths, vicious villains and relentless scare tactics. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, wouldn’t you like to give a different type of scare a go for a change? Ti West’s The Innkeepers focuses on The Yankee Pedlar Inn, a quaint hotel with a spooky past on the verge of being shut down for good. For the establishment’s final weekend in business, its sole remaining employees, Claire and Luke (Sara Paxton and Pat Healy), opt to spend the night so that when they’re not tending to the Inn’s mere three guests, they can explore and perhaps catch the…

Title: The Innkeepers Director: Ti West (‘Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever’) Starring: Sara Paxton, Pat Healy (‘Rescue Dawn’) and Kelly McGillis The thought of staying in a hotel that’s haunted by a ghost of a woman who killed herself would undoubtedly send most people running away, and never looki back. But in the new horror thriller ‘The Innkeepers,’ writer-director Ti West took an interesting spin on the supernatural sub-genre by featuring two of the hotel’s employees who actively, and willingly, seek out the resident ghost. While the employees initially question whether or not the ghost truly exists, the filmmaker presents an intriguing story of what happens when the ghost hunters…

Title: Shark Night 3D Directed By: David R. Ellis Starring: Sara Paxton, Dustin Milligan, Chris Carmack, Katharine McPhee, Chris Zylka, Alyssa Diaz, Joel David Moore, Sinqua Wells, Donal Logue, Joshua Leonard While most movies require endearing characters to get you from beginning to end and make you feel invested in what’s happening on the screen, that’s not necessary here. Fun, good scares and some carnage are all that’s needed in this recipe and nothing more. However, writers Will Hayes and Jesse Studenberg attempt to take their story one step further by giving it some heart. Heart in a movie called Shark Night 3D? Emotion in the midst of a hyper…

Comic Con day one is done. Well, technically, it wasn’t even day one as Wednesday is just preview night. Still, I didn’t take the time to check out any of the convention center booths as I was out celebrating the upcoming release of Shark Night 3D. In the parking lot of Petco Park, the film set up camp, which included food and drinks, a “bite booth” where you could get a green screen photo of yourself being attacked by a shark, the cast of Shark Night 3D and, best of all, a mechanical shark. Okay, perhaps it wasn’t the best part as I had a nice time chatting with the…

Coming out for San Diego Comic Con? How about getting a taste of Shark Night 3D? Or perhaps letting the star of Shark Night 3D get a taste of you for that matter. In honor of the film’s September 2nd release, Relativity Media is giving you the chance to join in on a photo op alongside a mechanical shark. Shark Night 3D focuses on a group of college friends who head out to a lake house in the Louisiana Gulf area for a weekend. Too bad a group of man-eating sharks crash their party, turning their vacation into a vicious nightmare and causing the freshwater to run red. Sounds like…
