Collider.com recently talked with Robert Downey Jr. about his upcoming projects, including “Iron Man 2″, the sequel to the 2008 smash adaptation of the Marvel Comics character, the armored hi-tech armored hero and playboy inventor Tony Stark.
On rumors that comedic actor Gary Shandling being in the film, he says that “I’m doing a Senate hearing where the government is saying the Iron Man tech needs to be turned over to the Senator and the Senator is Gary Shandling. And we had this fantastic day that was somehow this controlled chaos of a Senate hearing where I keep interrupting them and dah dah dah.”

IESB is reporting that “Book Of Eli” star Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight) was spotted on the set of “Iron Man 2″, and not just to visit apparently. No official announcements have been made regarding it but IESB is speculating that Oldman will have a role in the film, or at least a cameo.

John Favreau has released details and updates about “Iron Man 2″, the sequel to the 2008 comic-book adaptation of Marvel’s red and gold Iron Avenger, starring Robert Downey, Jr. as the playboy genius inventor-turned-superhero.
Favreau has said that shooting beings in two weeks and that rehearsals are going on now. Final casting has not yet happened but will be made next week, and that rumors regarding Mickey Rourke or Scarlett Johansson will not be addressed yet. According to entertainment blog The Playlist, Jon Favreau commented to E! last night in a post-Oscars interview that Emily Blunt, rumored to be attached to the upcoming “Iron Man 2″, will not be in the film.

Variety is reporting that actress Emily Blunt has emerged as the front runner to play Natasha Romanoff, aka the high-tech black-clad super spy heroine known as the Black Widow, in “Iron Man 2″, starring Robert Downey Jr. as the playboy industrialist with the alter ego of the mechanized hero known as Iron Man. Mickey Rourke, coming off of the rounding success of “The Wrestler”, is in talks with Marvel Entertainment to be in 2010’s “Iron Man 2″, the sequel to the 2008 summer blockbuster “Iron Man”. Sam Rockwell is also reportedly in talks with the studio about a role in the film, about the playboy industrialist who after a terrorist attack leaves him near-death, crafts a suit of armor to save himself and eventually become a superhero.

Frank Miller and Odd Lot Entertainment, who are the team behind the big-screen adaptation of Will Eisner’s “The Spirit,” are close to teaming again on the classic sci-fi property “Buck Rogers.”
