New PS3 Hardware Coming Soon to Japan

Sony announced recently that they are going to be releasing a new updated model of the PlayStation 3 console in Japan. The revision, called CECH-3000B, includes minor updates, like as decreasing the power consumption from 230W to 200W, cutting its weight by nearly a full pound, and the removal of LED lights. The new console revision also includes an added layer of security through the Blu-ray drive. The console still contains the 320G hard drive and is expected to cost the same price as the ones store shelves. Sony hasn’t disclosed when the console will be available outside of Japan. PlayStation Vita Release Date Has Been Leaked

The online retailer Shopto.net has leaked the official release date of November 4, 2011 for Sony’s next-generation handheld, the PlayStation Vita. They also listed two different versions a WIFI verson and a 3G version for pre-order. The hand helds are set to be $370.00 and $451.00, there will also be games available for pre-order, they will be priced for £40. The Playstation Store came back online on June 1, 2011 after being down for a very long month. New content has been added to the store, but some users are still having issues. PlayStation Store To Go Online By End of The Month, Yay?

According to a report by GameInformer, the PSN store is to be up by the end of the month. A leaked memo that was sent to developers and publishers, said that Sony plans to do “pushes” of content every week in order to catch up on releases while PSN was down. Universal In Turnaround For The Dark Tower?

This is probably the most ambitious movie project since Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of The Rings” Trilogy. Universal is looking to develop Stephen King’s widely popular book series “The Dark Tower” into a movie trilogy AND two seasons of TV, in-between each movie . This project will take a lot of commitment from production crews, actors, filmmakers and studios. PSN Outage Post Updates

On Wednesday, April 20, 2011, the PlayStation Network was shut down. Sony said the move was for maintenance and that the outage would only last a day or two. Nearly one week later, the company announced that the closure was due to a hacker infiltrating the system and stealing PlayStation 3 and PSP players’ personal information. PSN Restoration is Almost Finished

PlayStation Network will be returning soon and according to Sony the internal testing of its new system is in the final stages. They have not said exactly when PSN will be back on, but last month Sony confirmed that certain PSN services would go live during the first week of May.
