What was expected to be a close race turned out to be quite the blowout with Jaden Smith snatching up $56 million as compared to Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Rampage Jackson and Sharlto Copley’s disappointing $26 million. With just two days to go until Splice invades theaters, the film’s Internet trailer arrives and, like the others, it’s fantastic. This one taps into a key asset of the film left untouched by previous promo material, the reality of the situation. It begins with a timeline depicting monumental events including the defining of the structure of DNA in 1953, the cloning of Dolly in 1996 and concluding with the unthinkable, the splicing of human DNA.
