Steve Carell To Star In and Produce Conviction

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

Steve Carell has signed on to star in and produce the upcoming heist film ‘Conviction,’ Deadline is reporting. The film was bought as a spec script, which was written by Jonathan Herman, two years ago by Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures. Movie News Cheat Sheet: Flight Gets John Goodman, DreamWorks Gets The BFG And Frank Or Francis Gets Kevin Kline x 2

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011

Welcome to October! Even though we’re creeping closer to Halloween, the Movie News Cheat Sheet almost entirely steers clear of spooky territory. Beyond a new trailer for Paranormal Activity 3 and claims that John Travolta is a vampire, the material here is rather tame. We’ve got some exciting casting news to share including Frank or Francis‘ double dose of Kevin Kline as well as Flight‘s growing roster that now boasts names like John Goodman and Melissa Leo in addition to Denzel Washington and potentially Don Cheadle. Warner Bros. is looking to hire as well, but the studio is scouring the market for a director rather than an actor. Christopher Nolan,…

DVD Review: The Beaver, Super Hybrid, The Death of Andy Kaufman, Blitz and Prom

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

For all her success as an actress, Jodie Foster has had one of the more strangely cursed modern-day careers as a director. She’s made some good movies (“Little Man Tate” remains underrated), but she’s also had countless projects fall apart, including a wonderfully scripted period piece circus tale which Russell Crowe was attached to for quite some time, before a shoulder injury finally scuttled production for good at the last moment. “The Beaver” represents Foster’s latest Waterloo, through no particular fault of her own. A unique and well regarded debut script from writer Kyle Killen made the rounds in Hollywood, and for a while had Steve Carell attached to star. When…
