With award season quickly approaching and film critics releasing their top 10 movies of 2011, Dark Horizon has also released the top 10 most pirated movies of the year. ‘Fast Five’ takes the lead of being the most pirated film, having being illegally downloaded 9.26 million times. However, it’s far below the most pirated movie of 2010, ‘Avatar,’ which was viewed more than 16 million times. The overall top 10 list was down from 2010 as well, in part because of the increase in legal alternatives. However, the total number of active BitTorrent users isn’t on the decline, as the number of views is believed to be spread out over…

Apologies for the Movie News Cheat Sheet‘s tardiness, but it was for the sake of Steven Spielberg and Giancarlo Esposito! Totally worth it, right? I’d like to think so, but this Cheat Sheet is packed with some pretty exciting material. Well, the idea of Scott Disick playing Patrick Bateman might not be the most thrilling tidbit in there, but we do have a new director for The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and a slew of posters from what should be some of the biggest movies of summer 2012. The trailer department is lacking courtesy of the one for What To Expect When You’re Expecting dropping just after the massive New Year’s…

“Sucker Punch” filmmaker, Zack Snyder maybe in place to helm a new wartime thriller, “The Last Photograph”. Originally, director of the Swedish The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Niels Arden Oplev, was slated to direct but has since left the project. The Last Photography was penned by writer Kurt Johnstad, who also wrote “300″ and is the story of two Americans, a photo journalist and a retired solider, who try to rescue a kidnapped person in Afghanistan. It is rumored that Christian Bale and Sean Penn are set to play these two Americans. Now this could be interesting for the auteur filmmaker. Zack Snyder hasn’t heralded much good faith with…

As a new week begins, we wave goodbye to two big movie-packed conventions, CinemaCon and WonderCon. While the flood of news and updates is certainly exciting, it made it particularly difficult to pare down this week’s Movie News Cheat Sheet to just ten items. Between these two west coast conventions and our usual fare of big screen information, the Movie News Cheat Sheet is sure to come in handy more so than ever this week. Not only can you find some isolated noteworthy moments from both events, but the top new trailers of the week, a box office recap and, of course, a few other tidbits necessary for any film…

Paul ($4.3 million) 10. Battle: Los Angeles ($3.5 million) Analysis Universal…

Can you believe it’s April? It certainly doesn’t feel like it, here in New York at least. Anyway, we’ve arrived at a brand new month, the final month before the summer season kicks off. Sounds exciting, right? Well, April box office numbers have a tendency to be rather lack luster. Last year, the month kicked off with a bang courtesy of Clash of the Titans, but from there it was almost all downhill. 2008 was a particularly tough year for the month of April with the box office never seeing more than $82 million in total for the top 12 films of a weekend. Well, we’ve got some pretty big…

This week had its ups and downs and the Movie News Cheat Sheet is back to bring you a sampling of this erratic smorgasbord. On the bright side, we’ve got a slew of new material from Scream 4, hopeful news about another Chronicles of Narnia movie in the works and news of life after The Social Network for Armie Hammer. On the other hand, Sucker Punch stomped into theaters this weekend and insults just about everyone in its path. However the upheaval over Zack Snyder’s CGI and fetish exhibition gone wrong is dwarfed by the passing of someone who’s had an overwhelming impact on this industry, Elizabeth Taylor. Returning to…
