However, lately, that sensation fades after the films’ releases. Thanks to Marvel, over the years, I’ve gotten to know tons of endlessly fascinating characters like Iron Man, Spider-Man and more. Of course there were less memorable ones like Daredevil and the Punisher, but rest assured, Thor certainly earns his place in the latter…

Rene Russo has joined the cast of Marvel Entertainment’s “Thor” as the Asgardian queen goddess Frigga, wife of the Norse god Odin. Kenneth Branagh is directing, with Mark Protosevich and Zack Stentz having written the script. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, and Nataline Portman, the movie is slated to hit theaters May 20th, 2011. After reigniting an ancient war, Thor, the Norse god of thunder, is cast down to Earth from Asgard to learn humility and humanity, and takes the guise of the crippled Dr. Donald Blake. Variety.com is reporting that Kat Dennings (“Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist”) has joined the cast of Marvel Studio’s “Thor,” thethe big-screen adaptation of the Marvel Comics character that is set to begin filming this January. Dennings will play Darcy, a coworker of Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). The character of Thor, created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Larry Lieber, debuted in 1962 in “Journey Into Mystery”. The Norse god of thunder, he was exiled to Earth to learn humility and had the human identity of Dr. Donald Blake, who could transform into the heroic god by striking his walking stick into the ground. The film has a scheduled release date…

Marvel Entertainment has announced that Idris Elba (HBO’s “The Wire”, the upcoming “The Losers”) has joined the cast of the big-screen adaptation of “Thor” as the Asgardian called Heimdall. Elba joins Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Kenneth Branagh is directing the film, which is slated to hit theaters May 20th, 2011. Heimdall is described in Marvel’s “Thor” as the all-seeing and all-hearing guardian of the rainbow bridge in the skies that leads to Asgard, the celestial home of the Norse gods. Marvel Entertainment has announced that Stuart Townsend, Tadanobu Asano, and Ray Stevenson have been cast in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the Marvel Comics title “Thor,” as the fan-favorite characters The Warriors Three. Fandral will be played by Townsend, Hogun by Asano, and Volstagg will be portrayed by Stevenson. The trio of warriors are heroes of Asgard and fight side-by-side with the god of Thunder. The three first appeared in 1965 in Marvel’s “Journey Into Mystery” as supporting “Thor” characters. “Thor” is slated to hit theaters May 20th, 2011.
