Variety is reporting that CBS Films is in final negotiations with Dwayne Johnson to star in action-drama “Faster,” directed by Phil Joanou, who directEd “Gridiron Gang”, which also starred Johnson. Joe and Tony Gayton wrote the script. Johnson will play an ex-con bent on avenging the death of his brother, who was murdered when the two were double-crossed during a botched heist 10 years ago. “Faster” will be produced by Martin Shafer and Liz Glotzer of Castle Rock Entertainment, along with Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray, who teamed with Johnson on “The Game Plan” and the upcoming “Tooth Fairy.” Joe Gayton will also produce, and filming is set for August  [ Read More ]

According to a Variety report, Walt Disney Studios has attached director Andy Fickman, who recently directed the Duane Johnson-helmed action flick “Race To Witch Mountain”, to direct the big-screen adaptation of the graphic novel “Monster Attack Network”. Dwayne Johnson, formerly known as WWE wrestling superstar The Rock, has signed onto appear in the Disney film taking its cues from their amusement park ride section known as Tomorrowland. Variety is describing as the film as a “space movie”, inspired by the studio’s recent whirlwind success with the theme ride-inspired “Pirates of The Caribbean” franchise starring Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.
