Reese Witherspoon And Ryan Reynolds To Lead 'Big Eyes'

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

Actress Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Reynolds will team up to headline Tim Burton’s art drama entitled “Big Eyes”. While Burton is producing through his company Screwed, helmers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski will both co-direct the picture that chronicles the lives of artist Margaret Keanes and her husband Walter, who passed off his wife’s work as his own until the two eventually divorced. Issuing a joint statement, both directors were excited over working with Witherspoon and Reynolds on the coming art drama. “We are ecstatic to have this dream cast for our dream project. Walter is a larger-than-life antihero — charming, funny, dangerous, and a little crazy. Ryan will knock…

Planet of the Apes Tim Burton

Mark Wahlberg: Rise Of the Planet Of The Apes Is Better Than Tim Burton's Version

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

Everyone who has seen the 1960s film series and Tim Burton’s 2001 of “The Planet of the Apes” says the same thing–the 2001 pales in comparison to the 1960s originals. As a huge “Apes” fan, the timeline presented in Burton’s “Apes” doesn’t exist to me, even though the ending is closer in line to what happened in the book that started it all (but not by much). According to CinemaBlend, Mark Wahlberg, who starred in Burton’s version, has opened up to MTV about the film and how it sucks when compared to the originals and “Rise.” “I haven’t seen it yet, but I heard it was pretty damn good,” he…

The Nightmare Before Christmas

DVD Review: The Nightmare Before Christmas, Deadtime Stories: Volume 2, The 10th Victim

Monday, October 10th, 2011

In an admission that will come as a considerable disappointment to a former coworker (who, for the record, is decidedly not Goth), my initial memories of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” were somewhat fuzzy. My first viewing of producer Tim Burton and director Henry Selick’s stop-motion animated film, not too long after its original home video release, was marred with, umm, distractions. A re-visiting of the somewhat seminal work — which scored a visual effects…
