The Adventures of Tintin Teaser Trailer Wins Big Thanks To Performance Capture Tech

The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn has been a long time coming for Steven Spielberg. The director first snatched up the rights when the original comic book artist, Georges “Hergé” Remi, passed away back in 1983. Spielberg had to re-option the rights in 2002, hoped to film in late 2008 for a 2010 release, but clearly that didn’t go as planned. It took a little longer than expected, but things finally came together making Tintin Spielberg’s very first digitally shot production courtesy of performance capture technology. The film’s roster includes Jamie Bell as Tintin, Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Thomson and Thompson…

Date Set For The Adventures Of Tintin Film

Paramount and Sony Pictures have announced the release date for the long-awaited 3-D motion capture feature film “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn”, directed and produced by Steven Spielberg, and produced by Peter Jackson and Kathleen Kennedy. The film will be released by Paramount in the U.S. on December 23rd, 2011. The film stars Jamie Bell as Tintin, a young reporter who constantly gets involved in high-adventure and intrigue in the search of good stories, and Daniel Craig as Red Rackham, the film’s villain. Spielberg and Jackson Team Up for Tintin

Variety reports that Steven Spielberg will wrap 32 days of filming on Tintin this week in which he will then hand the project to producer Peter Jackson. Jackson, who is in charge of the film’s special effects, will work on the effects for 18 months. Spielberg originally obtained the rights to Tintin in 1983, but has not felt special effects have been up to par to what was needed until he saw Jackson’s work on the Lord of the Rings trilogy and King Kong, which is why the two have paired up for the project.
