Anchor Bay Films has announced that it has landed the U.S. rights to the film “Seeking Justice,” starring Nicolas Cage, January Jones and Guy Pearce. The film was directed by Roger Donaldson and produced by Endgame Entertainment’s James D. Stern, along with Ram Bergman and Material Entertainment’s Tobey Maguire and Jenno Topping. Tobey Maguire has agreed to pay $80,000 to buy his way out of a poker lawsuit he was named in in June 2011, TMZ is reporting. The ‘Great Gatsby’ actor was one of 22 people sued for taking part in Ponzi schemer Bradley Ruderman’s illegal underground poker games in 2007. The 35-year-old ‘Spider-Man’ star won more than $300,000 from Ruderman, a Beverly Hills hedge fund manager. He embezzled investor funds in order to pay off his debt to Maguire and others who played in his illegal gambling games. Australian director Baz Luhrmann has been trying to shop around the idea of adapting the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel ‘The Great Gatsby,’ Cinemablend.com is reporting. Real life friends Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire are rumored to star in the adaptation, with Amanda Seyfriend and Rebecca Hall in the running as well.
