Transformers: Dark Of The Moon Movie Review

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Title: Transformers: Dark of the Moon Directed By: Michael Bay Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson, Patrick Dempsey, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Alan Tudyk, Frances McDormand I love chocolate cake. When I eat too much chocolate cake, I feel sick and don’t love it much anymore. I like visually stimulating imagery in movies. When I see too much visually stimulating imagery, in 3D nonetheless, I feel sick and don’t love it much anymore. Hopefully Michael Bay doesn’t love chocolate cake as much as he loves tracking shots and dizzying robot battles or he’d have a morbidly obese problem on his hands. Transformers: Dark of the…

Box Office Report: Cars 2 Spanks Bad Teacher

Sunday, June 26th, 2011

The box office results for the weekend of June 24th – 26th has Pixar parking in its usual reserved spot once again. But after reading the reviews, it could be towed away very soon. Meanwhile, the continuous pattern of being Bad – a.k.a. R-rated comedy – earns more dirty money. Here are the studio estimates: 1. Cars 2 ($68 million) 2. Bad Teacher ($31 million) 3. Green Lantern ($18.3 million) 4. Super 8 ($12.1 million) 5. Mr. Popper’s Penguins ($10.3 million) 6. X-Men: First Class ($6.6 million) 7. The Hangover Part II ($5.8 million) 8. Bridesmaids ($5.3 million) 9. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ($4.7 million) 10. Midnight…

LaBeouf, Bay And More Hit The Press Circuit To Support Transformers: Dark Of The Moon

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

With the release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon fast approaching, the cast and filmmakers are out and about spreading the word. And it’s not like they even have to. Back in 2007 Transformers snagged a massive $709.7 million at the worldwide box office only to be trumped by Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and its enormous $836.3 million haul in 2009. Can Dark of the Moon raise the bar yet again? It’s tough to be sure, but I’ve got a feeling director Michael Bay will put up a good fight. We watched as Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) got caught up in the battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons…

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

Happy Sunday, Shockya readers! Just before you head off to bed to rest up for the first day of the workweek, why not take a moment to gulp down the best of the best in movie news? We’ve got quite a few casting updates for some highly anticipated films like the G.I. Joe sequel as well as Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. On the other hand, while those productions push forward, Transformers is coming to a halt, for Shia LaBeouf and Michael Bay at least. Back on the bright side, we’ve got a couple of films that recently received the go-ahead, both of which pack an enormous amount of potential, Doug…

Shia LeBeouf and Michael Bay

Shia LeBeouf and Michael Bay are quitting Transformers

Saturday, June 11th, 2011

This bit of news can either be taken as sad news or the best news since the announcement of the reboot of the “Batman” series: director Michael Bay and star Shia LeBeouf are announcing that “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” is the last of the “Transformers” films. According to CinemaBlend via MTV, LeBeouf says point-blank, “I’m not coming back to do another one.” He goes on to say, “I don’t think Mike will either. It["Transformers"] still is a hot property, especially coming out of the third one. So I imagine they’ll reboot it with someone else.” If Paramount does decide to make a rebooted franchise, LeBeouf said he’d be happy…

Directors Michael Bay and James Cameron on how to build a great blockbuster

Friday, May 27th, 2011

The Hollywood Reporter has recently published an interview with blockbuster directors Michael Bay and James Cameron on how to build a better blockbuster. According to the article, Bay decided to make the third “Transformers” film, “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”, a 3D film because of Cameron’s success with “Avatar”. According to Bay, who was initially on the fence about making the film 3D, Cameron convinced him by saying, “You gotta look at it as a toy. It’s another fine tool to help get emotion and character and create an experience.” Here’s more information on the article: Bay found his first shoot, a scene on the moon, using Cameron’s 3D technology…

New Transformers: Dark Of The Moon Release Date And Now A New Trailer To Go With It

Friday, May 20th, 2011

Hot on the heels of the announcement that Transformers: Dark of the Moon will now open on Wednesday, June 29th instead of July 1st, comes a brand new 3D trailer. Of course we can’t show it to you in 3D here (not yet at least), but if you opt to check out Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in 3D, you can watch Optimus and the gang pop off the screen as they ravage some Decepticons. While there are few differences between this trailer and the last, we do get some new footage. There’s a shot of Bumblee and Optimus taking a stroll through what looks to be a…

2011 Summer Movie Season: Projected $300 million club

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

With the 2011 summer movie season upon us, an abundance of previews and predictions are starting to hit outlets all over the country. Now with all due respect to the authors who write these preview pieces; the truth is, none of us can accurately predict how entertaining a big-budgeted blockbuster is going to be. And that works both ways; for even the ones that we think may bomb, can actually turn into a nice surprise. So in the effort to offer an alternate preview – and to kind of contradict myself – here’s a look at the 2011 summer flicks that yours truly believes will venture into the coveted $300…

Leonard Nimoy joins Transformers

Leonard Nimoy joins cast of Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon

Friday, April 1st, 2011

“Transformers” fans: Leonard Nimoy is now in the next “Transformers” film, “Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon”! Rejoice! (If you’re a “Star Trek” fan, like me, this might make you a bit more curious about the film.) According to Entertainment Weekly, Nimoy is set to give his voice to Sentinel Prime, Optimus Prime’s predecessor (it’s Sentinel Prime’s wrecked body that is seen in the trailer for the film). On Earth, he takes the form of a fire engine. Now, for those of you who remember when Nimoy said last year that he was going to retire from acting, you might be scratching your heads. Apparently, the acting bug is too…
