Writer-director Tyler Perry has been named as the top-earning man in entertainment, according to Forbes. Perry being at the top of the list isn’t surprising once you realize what a juggernaut he has become in entertainment, starting off with his deal with Lionsgate to translate his popular stage plays to movies. Lionsgate To Create A Tyler Perry Network

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate is getting ready to launch a network anchored by Tyler Perry. Lionsgate’s CEO John Feltheimer told financial analysts Wednesday that they are looking forward to the launch. “Tyler is one of those rare resources that one could launch a channel with,” he said. “We have a lot of options if we choose to go down that path.” Feltheimer also said that Perry is a “rare piece of talent that can bring an audience anywhere.” A Tyler Perry network could come about one of two ways, said Feltheimer. Giancarlo Esposito will join Tyler Perry, Matthew Fox, Ed Burns and Jean Reno in Summit Entertainment’s I, Alex Cross. The titular character, Alex Cross, comes from the pages of James Patterson’s book series and has already graced a couple of big screen productions, Kiss the Girls and Along Came A Spider, in which he was portrayed by Morgan Freeman. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that movie mogul Tyler Perry is about to launch his third television series on TBS. The series, called, “For Better or Worse”, will replace “House of Payne”, which will be ending after 222 episodes. “For Better or Worse” will follow Michael Jai White (“Black Dynamite”, “The Dark Knight”) and Tasha Smith (“Couples Retreat”)’s characters Marcus (a television anchor) and his wife, salon owner Angela.
