Pokemon is a media franchise published and owned by the video game company Nintendo and created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1996. Originally released as a pair of interlinkable Game Boy role-playing video games, Pokémon has since become the second most successful and lucrative video game-based media franchise in the world, behind only Nintendo’s own Mario series. IESB is reporting that Steven Spielberg is in talks to take on the long-rumored and much-anticipated HALO movie, based on the popular video game franchise about the futuristic super-soldier known as Master Chief as he aides humanity in a war against the invading forces of the Covenant, a theocratic alliance of various aliens intent on taking Earth. Spielberg is, according to the report, blown away by Stuart Beattie’s script of the adaptation, titled “HALO: The Fall of Reach” and looking for a project for the upcoming independent studio under Dreamworks and Walt Disney Pictures. Warner Bros, according to a report from Variety, has greenlit DC Comic’s “Suicide Squad” for getting the big-screen treatment as a potential franchise, bringing villains as opposed to heroes to the forefront this time. A mix of obscure and well-known DC supervillains, the off-the-books Suicide Squad must bury their interpersonal conflicts and villainous egos in order to survive and hopefully, shave a few years off their sentences if they manage to survive.
