John Lasseter Receives Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Disney/Pixar’s John Lasseter received a coveted star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Tuesday, which coincided with the release of “Cars 2″ on DVD and Blu-ray. Present at the event were Owen Wilson, Emily Mortimer, Brad Paisley, Bonnie Hunt, Cheech Marin, John Ratzenberger, Patton Oswalt, Randy Newman and Don Rickles, all of whom are associated with Pixar either by contributing their voices (Wilson, Mortimer, Hunt, Marin, Ratzenberger, Oswalt and Rickles) or their musical talents (Paisley, Newman). Lasseter is a two-time Oscar-winning director and creatively oversees all Disney and Pixar films and associated projects. John Carter Warlord Of Mars Director Talks

Ain’t It Cool News has some information garnered at the Writer’s Panel of the Santa Barbara Film Festival from Andrew Stanton. Stanton, the director of the critically-acclaimed 2008 Pixar flick “Wall-E”, talked about his upcoming project tackling the pulp classic “John Carter: Warlord Of Mars”. He said that despite his past work “Carter” would not be a Pixar movie, but instead come out under the regular Disney banner. Already in a second script draft, Stanton, who claims to have been planning this film since a small child, says that the story will be sticking very closely to the origins of the character, created by “Tarzan” author Edgar Rice Burroughs.
