This time it is for Stewart&#8217;s new starring role in &#8216;Lie Down In Darkness&#8217;. Beating out Jennifer Lawrence, the Breaking Dawn star has signed on to appear in the film from director Scott Cooper. As confirmed by Vulture, the indie drama chronicles the troubles of a southern family back in the 1950&#8217;s and is an adaption of writer William Styron&#8217;s novel of the same name. Stewart has signed on to play the role of Peyton Loftis in the predictable dark thriller.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a few snippets taken from the plot summary per Amazon. &#8216;Lie Down in Darkness&#8217; follows &#8220;the tragic downfall of Milton, the drunken patriarch, Ellen, the frigid mother, and the two Loftis daughters, one born perfect, one born crippled. It is both story and case study. And ultimately we are shepherded through tragedy after tragedy into the climax&#8211;the suicide of the immeasurably beautiful and desired Peyton Loftis&#8211;as we walk moment to moment with her, peering inside the poisoned stream of consciousness that overwhelms and eventually claims her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The film is reportedly scheduled to hit theaters next year with casting still taking place.
