In honor of tonight’s London 2012 Summer Olympic Games closing ceremony, Google is celebrating with its last athletic Doodle. The Doodle, which replaces the search engine’s official logo on its homepage, features athletes from the Doodles featured during the preceding 16 consecutive days. The athletes featured in the Doodle include a female archer, a synchronized swimming team, a shot-put athlete and a javelin thrower.<\/p>\n

Google celebrated the opening ceremony on Friday, July 27 with a Doodle showcasing five athletes playing different Olympic sports. The next day, Saturday, July 28, Google showcased the sport of archery in a Doodle with a female archer getting ready to aim for the bull’s eye.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, July 29, Google celebrated with a diving Doodle, while fencing and gymnastics men’s rings were featured the next two days. Olympic field hockey was honored for the first time in a Google Doodle on Wednesday, August 1. Table tennis was celebrated the following day.<\/p>\n

On Friday, August 3, shot put was honored with a Google Doodle, while pole vaulting and synchronized swimming were celebrated on Saturday and Sunday. Javelin was depicted on Monday, August 6, while the first animated Doodle was posted on Tuesday in the form of hurdles.<\/p>\n

Google then celebrated with interactive games, beginning with basketball on Wednesday, July 8. Next was the slalom canoe Doodle, followed by the soccer game on Friday. The last original Doodle was posted yesterday with rhythmic gymnastics.<\/p>\n
