Director Kevin Tancharoen (Fame) has dropped his pitch trailer online for the Hunger Games. The helmer, who was beat out by Gary Ross, says he decided to share his work so that others can learn. Tancharoen melded together scenes of several well known movies to showcase a certain tone he was going for if he was to take on the first installment of the Suzanne Collins adaption. Talking to Slash Film, the ‘Mortal Kombat’ director shared that “trying to pitch a vision to a room full of people is always very difficult verbally.” <\/p>\n
It took Tancharoen a month to come up with the creative pitch in an effort to win the chair. “It’s almost expected for a director to show some visual materials, but the need to impress has become elevated. At first, it was just some concept art, some storyboards and possibly a treatment. Then the rip-o-matic [a visual reel using clips from other movies to portray a visual style] became really popular.” While he didn’t land the job, Tanchroen still made his way to theaters of the opening day of ‘The Hunger Games’, complimenting Gary Ross on the end results. “I really loved the film that Lionsgate, Gary Ross, and Nina Jacobson made – I went opening night.” Watch Director Kevin Tancharoen’s ‘Hunger Games’ pitch trailer below where blends scenes of battle, love and more together into one short clip.<\/p>\n
