It\u2019s the first weekend of October; looking to get in the Halloween spirit? \u201cFrankenweenie\u201d can help you with that. The latest from Tim Burton hits 3,005 theaters and while \u201cHotel Transylvania\u201d will certainly steal some of its thunder, the film has a shot at matching \u201cMonster House\u2019s\u201d $22 million for the #3 spot. #1 one will likely go to \u201cTaken,\u201d which despite dismal reviews, could follow in the footsteps of \u201cThe Bourne Legacy,\u201d earning about $38 million opening weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cHotel Transylvania\u201d should have no trouble holding strong, possibly dropping just 40% for another $25 million, and perhaps coming in just ahead of \u201cFrankenweenie.\u201d Thanks to some very positive buzz, \u201cLooper\u201d should find itself in good shape as well. Should it also lose 40% of its opening profits, it\u2019ll take $12.5 million for its second weekend out. Not bad, but is it enough to trump \u201cPitch Perfect?\u201d After a strong limited opening, \u201cPitch Perfect\u201d is going wide and adding an additional 2,435 theaters to its original 335. Should its first weekend per theater average of $15,371 drop down to $6,000, it\u2019ll still take another $16 million, more than enough to top \u201cLooper.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even though it\u2019s losing 209 theaters, with no new dramas coming out, \u201cTrouble with the Curve\u201d could maintain that 40% loss and add another $4.5 million to its domestic total. \u201cEnd of Watch,\u201d on the other hand, has a 410 theater loss and \u201cLooper\u201d to contend with, so it could lose 45%, earning $4 million, and losing the 6th spot to \u201cTrouble with the Curve.\u201d \u201cHouse at the End of the Street\u201d has held on rather well for a horror movie, but that likely won\u2019t be the case this time around, the film losing 363 theaters and finally taking that 50% horror hit for a $3.5 million weekend three total.<\/p>\n

\u201cFinding Nemo 3D\u201d is losing a whopping 893 theaters, but thanks to last weekend\u2019s $1.5 million lead on \u201cThe Master,\u201d it should manage to take in another $2 million and just edge it out for ninth place. However, \u201cThe Master\u201d won\u2019t be far behind, likely losing 40% again, which would give it $1.6 million.<\/p>\n
