Stanton, the director of the critically-acclaimed 2008 Pixar flick “Wall-E”, talked about his upcoming project tackling the pulp classic “John Carter: Warlord Of Mars”. <\/p>\n
He said that despite his past work “Carter” would not be a Pixar movie, but instead come out under the regular Disney banner. Already in a second script draft, Stanton, who claims to have been planning this film since a small child, says that the story will be sticking very closely to the origins of the character, created by “Tarzan” author Edgar Rice Burroughs. He also says that despite rumors online to the contrary the film will not be in 3D, and that in general “[the movie] is huge, it is exciting, it scares the crap out of me. It’s either going to make me or break me.”<\/p>\n
John Carter is a fictional character, created by Edgar Rice Burroughs for serial novels in 1912. He first appeared in the “Martian” series of novels, his debut being in “A Princess Of Mars”. Originally a Civil War soldier from Virginia, the character had various adventures as a swrod-weidlign hero on Mars, mysteioulsy travelling back and forth. The character has been adopted into various media, including a Marvel Comics title that ran from 1977 to 1979. In June of 2008 Stanton and Disney\/Pixar were announced as the creative powers behind the new film, which has no scheduled release date yet.<\/p>\n
