A glimpse of Mad Men’s Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe in ‘A Young Doctor’s Handbook’ has been unleashed in promotion of its debut on Sky Arts television network December 6th. Strangely humorous and quirky, the 4 part mini-series captures the Harry Potter star as the younger version of a post WWI era doctor, Vladimir Bomgard, and his efforts to help those in a Russian village. Hamm tackles the older version of the unique doc recounting his past and his own personal issues aside from those of his patients. <\/p>\n

As seen in the trailer, Hamm and Radcliffe show off their on-screen chemistry while dealing with a messy patient load in between exchanging words with one another which gives the Mikhail Bulgakov adaption a curious plot for those that haven’t read the book. ‘A Young Doctor’s Handbook’ was directed by Alex Hardcastle (Suburgatory). Mark Chappell, Shaun Pye, and Alan Connor wrote the scripts. Check out the trailer below and read a snippet of the synopsis.<\/p>\n

“Recounting from his notebooks, the Doctor considers his life and career as he tries to treat the patients of a village that is struggling to enter the modern age. Dealing not only with the superstitious and poorly educated patients but with his own inner demons, the doctor reveals doubts about his own competence and struggles with the immense burden of medical responsibility.”<\/p>\n
